What Does AB6 Stand For?

Wed Mar 15, 2006 1:04 am

Hi Everybody,
I am flying from Frankfurt to Istanbul on 24. March with LH arriving Istanbul 01:40 on 25. March and aircraft type says AB6. Is than an Airbus- A 340-600 or am I only dreaming ? How about A 300-600 ? Any ideas ? OR any LH staff who can help ?

It will be an Airbus 300B4-603. It's a fairly common code. The 340-600 would be 346, the 340-300 "343" etc.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Yes, it has 280 seats and it is my favourite plane in the LH fleet, I love it to fly short-haul on big planes. Enjoy!

Patrick

By the way, check this site for a seat map.

I was wondering the same thing when I booked to fly with Thai ( TG ) at the end of Summer 2005. I thought @ 1st that it was some type of PROP. Aircraft like the ATR-72. (BTW, I confuse myself sometimes)

First Class passengers are my favourites. They can't get any further forward without an ATPL.

Selam Firiko;
Actually LH is pretty smart when it comes to fleet management and you will see that your flight will be packed with connecting pax to IST from all over the world.

I am actualy connecting myself from LHR. Called Tk but they said none of the new aircraft would be serving LHR on my requested day so I went for LH

I'll be on an LH A300-600 in April as I travel from FRA to London to do some major plane spotting at LHR... I can't wait!!! Big grin

I flew this route (FRA-IST-FRA) last week. I flew an A320 (football nose) on the first flight (LH3342) and an A321 on the return (LH3343). Both flights were delayed by about 40 minutes (snow at FRA). On the FRA-IST flight, the load was around 65% with the roughly a 50/50 mix between Turks and Germans. On the return service the flight was around 90% full and the vast majority of pax seemed to be Turks. A small hot meal was served on both sectors. The landing into IST was a memorable one. We hit the runway hard and applied full reversers and brakes (most passengers had to use the seats ahead of them as support). All in all LH offer a decent service on the short trips and the delays were out of their control.
