I like their colours - very striking.

I know they have operated flights on the A310 for Sudan Airways, as I saw it at AUH late last year.

12 years back I flew with them, on an old 737-200, probably my last 732 flight. It was one of the worst flights ever. No service at all (just one drink and bad food in the first hour, then the crew was not seen again for two hours), pilots who obviously came fresh from the Egyptian Air Force, steering the plane rather hectically. And the plane itself was in a state I shook when I boarded it. A never-again experience. I´m surprised they get brandnew jets now.

Cheers Rob! You have no idea how long I've been waiting to see a photo of this aircraft. Absolutely stunning.

AMC Aviation

It was changed to AMC Airline in 1998. Their website is currently under construction http://www.amcairlines.com/

The aircraft are leased from GECAS. The airline will recieve six B738s over the next 14 months. The 2nd B738 (SU-BPH) should be delivered in April.

Here is what SU184 stated in another thread:

"AMC sold their A300 to Iran's Mahan Air, the A310 to Sudan Airways last October, they now have the 2 MD83's and one B732,"

Quoting B742 (Thread starter):

Yes their main base is CAI however they operate out of SSH, HRG, LXR and ASW.

As with all private Egyptian airlines they are restricted to the charter market however this is expected to change in 2007. In fact this was one of the main reasons for ordering these new aircraft...in preperation for scheduled services as well as fleet harmonisation.

It's a retro look that doesn't look out of place in 'modern' times.

Well things have changed in 12 years. Most of the reviews here are very positive:

They had a fleet of brand new MD-90 between 1997 and 2002. They were returned after the airline had too many techincal problems with the jets.

Seems Egypt will now have two 738 carriers  Smile

Thanks I kept getting mixed up whether they were called AMC Airlines or Aviation  Wink

So does this mean they will be able to fly Int'l and Domestic flights (scheduled)?

With this new rule expected to come in during 2007.. does any Egyptian private airline have any plans to commence scheduled flights?

Indeed. This September. Can't wait

Don't worry you're not the only one. Even CAI's website gets it wrong!

No dates have been set. Minister of Civil Aviation Ahmed Shafik did state that liberalisation will happen when CAI's T3 opens and upgrade work at other Egyptian airports is complete. Both take place in 2007.

Hey Rob,
I was just down at BFI for a nice flight and I saw this beauty taking off. I am presuming it is returning to Egypt. I could be wrong, though.
Happy Flying!

I thought the MD-90s were nice and something different to the 'generic' A320/B737.

Anyone have access to a flight tracker to see if this aircraft is finally being delivered to CAI. Any info on routing?
