Yet Another FlyWho Update!

Well after many updates and little progress, it looks a little more promising this time!
FlyWho have announced with the airport (bhx) its new services to Orlando-Sanford and St Petersburg - Tampa Bay. They are now saying that flights will be starting on Saturday 8th July 2006 with L1011-500 TriStar's! Yet another aircraft change from the planned A310's and 767's.

If and when this service is confirmed, all the details and schedules will be posted here. Until then we can only wait and see what happens...

I Wonder,
Just how far in advance does an airline, new or old, need before deciding on an aicraft type to operate a service? I have seen various images of the planned interiors of this airline, 'most legroom in the world' for example, but if they are still deciding on what aircraft they are going to fly, i guess the fitting out is going to be a last minute thing, never mind the costing of any particular aircraft type.

Flywho interest me to a degree, If they do start an L1011 service I might just take a trip for nostalgia's sake.

One word - backing.

I will be asked eventually to look at them for a credit report - and what I say may determine whether the fuel companies give them credit or not, and this could prove crucial in the early phases.

It all depends who they are backed by.
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

They are if you buy them for $500,000 each outright - NW has shown that if you take the lease payments out of the equation, then even the older jets become profitable.... ok perhaps NW not a good example!!! Big grin
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

CHRISBA777ER, how does it work to credit check a new company? I work in mobile phones and in order to credit check a business, they have to be in operation for at least 3 yrs and VAT registered. Is it a different procedure in the airline industry to decide whether FlyWho can have the fuel on tick or have to fly with a suitcase full of $$$??

You go through us!

We do a detailed check on a company, that involves speaking to them, getting all necessary info from them, also from company registry etc - you get their incorporation details, financials (or info about backing) and cross-ref the names of the major heads of the company. You look at their set up and write a detailed business summary and review, and do a very brief SWOT analysis - pretty basic stuff but it takes a very long time. You also look at their performance (if any) and get references from other suppliers (if any) - collect everything together and make a credit decision based on all this.

For new companies it comes down to who owns them - i rarely, if ever give credit at all to companies that are in their first year of trading. If they dont get credit, then a bank guarantee is needed, or the supplier supplies on cash in advance terms.

Fuel is usually supplied on thirty day terms and credit lines range from US$ mid-five figures to US$ mid-eight figures.
