Oasis Hong Kong Airlines acquires two 747-400s

16 March 2006
Hong Kong

Oasis Hong Kong Airlines is very pleased to announce the acquisition of its first two aircraft. The aircraft are B747-400 previously operated and maintained by Singapore Airlines and SIA Engineering Co. Ltd. respectively.

Mr. Stephen Miller, CEO, commented: "Demand for these two aircraft from leading full service carriers has been very strong. So we are absolutely delighted to have secured them as they are in excellent condition and perfect for our exclusive new long haul,non-stop services priced for the budget conscious traveller.

Mr. Robert Laird, Vice President of China Sales for The Boeing Company, congratulated Oasis on its choice of aircraft, commenting: "The 747-400 is an excellent aircraft for Oasis; it provides outstanding service and is used by most of the world's major airlines, has an excellent safety record and a new future ahead of it in the form of the 747-8".

The purchase of these two aircraft by Oasis is the first step in an expansion
programme which includes acquisition of new aircraft. The aircraft will be delivered in July this year and after customising for Oasis' unique service, will enter service later this year, initially between Hong Kong and London, Gatwick. The exact date will be announced in May 2006.

Taken from my Inbox  Smile

So the airline will finally get aircraft, looks as if this airline will go ahead

They are also looking at the 747-8 for future services

The airline is also looking at adding Milan, Cologne, Berlin and Oakland after LGW

Good luck to them

That would be TF-AMA and -AMB operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic in IB-colors and owned by SIA ?

Oakland

Love it! Always thought OAK could support a bit more international flights...NRT/HKG/LGW perhaps. Let's hope they add a few more Int'l gates in the future.
Next up: STL-CVG-MKE-MSP-STL.

I am so glad this was posted. I remember the post when the Airline first announced services.

I am glad to see that services will launch, and hope that they do offer the usual class of service on most Chinese carriers.

Hopefully if they announce flights to Perth (AUS) in the future, i can fly with them on LGW-HKG-PER.

Thanks
Mike

P.S. Am i correct in thinking that LGW-HKG is only HKD1,000 ? If so, that is really cheap. Only £75.

Currently only 744's are on the way, 5 in all are expected within the next two years  Smile

They have also said they are intrested in the 747-8 (I will try and find the report).

I cant wait to see what the livery is like  Smile

Yes, but CX is flying several 744s onto LHR each day, so there must be a chance, especially as they want to fly to LGW.

It is on their website now:

http://www.oasis-air.com/en/index.asp

There is no mention of them getting a 747-8. I would not read too much into the comment.

Oasis' entry into OAK might help spur some other international airlines to serve OAK.

OAK better fix up their FIS area first. There is no way 300 + PAXs can fit into the arrivals for CBP.

Oh dear, wonder which biblical principles those might be?
