LH Engine Problem Returns To PHL

Sun Mar 19, 2006 5:02 pm

I just heard that an LH 340 PHL-FRA flight emergency landed at PHL a few hours ago after an engine failure over the Atlantic.
We are but a moment in this vast Universe and when gone we will never have existed.

Source?

And why did they return to PHL when they were already over the Atlantic?
Wouldn't have BOS or even YHZ been closer?

Because they are Lufthansa.

I was once on an LH A340 flight that had engine problems on one of 4 (not a failure) over Scotland. we returned to FRA which resulted in 5 hrs delay, 3 hrs flying and 2 hrs on the ground in FRA for changing aircraft.

I checked Flightaware for more information, but I found nothing on the matter. Does any insider in PHL or at LH know more on this incident?

Lufthansa.com says that the PHL flight arrived one hour late in FRA at 8:58 instead of 7:55 am.

The aircraft came back on Friday night and not Saturday night, hence the confusion.

Here's a link to one story about it:
