1997 AC YYZ - YWG, What Equipment?

Tue Mar 21, 2006 6:25 am

In August 1997, I took an Air Canada flight from YYZ to YWG. To this day, that is the only flight I ever made that I can't remember what equipment I flew on.

Does anyone here know what equipment AC was using for that route in the summer on '97? I remember that from YWG, it carried on to YXE. Maybe someone has old records, or it's a route that someone flew regularly and would remember.

Anyone?

Don't know why I remember this, but it would most likely have been AC191, routed YYZ-YWG-YXE operated by an A320.

It definitely wasn't an A320 as I remember the seat configuration was 2-3. Could it have been a DC-9? Did AC fly those?

I live in YXE and I agree with the first post. AC191 operated thru YWG to YXE, and it was an A320 or A319. I can guarantee it wasn't a DC9. The only DC9s we got in the late 90s was a flight to YYC. AC219 or something like that.

AC is well known for equipment substitutions. Quite possibly, if the flight operated on a weekend, it could have operated with a DC9-32, which had the 2/3 configuration in economy class. AC191 was a midday departure from YYZ (approximately 1310??), and was definitely at that point in time predominantly Airbus equipment.

My mistake, I didn't read that line carefully enough. If it was 2-3, it would have to be a DC9, wouldn't it? The Bae146s were 2-3 but I can see those ever on the YYZ-YWG-YXE route.

Thanks for everyone's help and input. I believe now that it was a DC-9. I have a shot of me in the airport and the nose of the aircraft is behind me. Comparing it to that of the A320 and the DC-9, it's clearly a DC-9, especially if AC DC-9's were configured 2-3. It definitely wasn't a BAe-146, as they are my absolute favourite aircraft and I remember every trip I've made on those  Smile

So, now my next question is - does anyone know if AC produced a model of the DC-9 in their last (late 90's) livery? I have a model of a every type in every livery that I've flown, and this one is the only one missing.

I'm sure there is a DC-9 in late 90's livery. There is an avaiation/airliner enthusiast store adjacent to YYZ airport, that has an amazing supply of stock. Check out:

Good Luck!
