Future More Flights Between US And Colombia

Wed Mar 22, 2006 7:27 am

The three airlines that currently fly to Colombia are exploring alternatives to start flights to differents destinations.

DL is studying the possibility to have a flight to Cartagena. It flies ATL-BOG.

AA is checking the possibilities of the cities in the coffee growing region and also SantaFe de Antioquia. It currently flies MIA-BOG, MIA-MED and MIA-CLO.

CO is concentrating in its new route IAH-CLO. It also flies IAH-BOG.

Delta is also considering to upgrade the aircraft for BOG-ATL from a 752 to a 767.

AA is also promoting the real state expansion in Miami where about 65,000 new apartments are being build and they are betting that a good percentage of buyers will be from Latin America.

American Airlines is tentatively planning on starting MIA-PEI and MIA-CTG this year, hopefully by July, but realisticly it will be later. It will be 4x weekly 738 service to PEI, and 3x weekly to CTG on days that the PEI flight doesn't operate.

I wouldn't hold my breathe for Delta to Cartagena though, I have no idea where they got that idea, because I doubt very much it is true. Delta to Medellin or Cali sounds a lot more realistic.

AA will not operate new flights to Colombia this year.

During Summer season, they will only operate from BOG two AB 300, no additional flight, also MDE and CLO will not have the extra flight during this time.

Its not a rumor, its confirmed.

It also flies IAH-BOG.

And EWR-BOG also.

I see the DL in CTG idea feasible, maybe a saturday-only operation with 737 from ATL could work.
