NYC-FCO: Decisions, Decisions

Thu Mar 23, 2006 8:23 am

Hey everyone. It's my first post, many more to come. I'm planning to fly NYC-FCO this August. My options are AA on 763, CO on 762/4, AZ on 772, or DL on 763. I know that AZ and DL are going through some tough times. If I book on either AZ or DL, is there a serious possibility of cancellation due to strike, or some other hardship? I've heard great things about Alitalia's transatlantic product, especially in the 777, but I'd rather not take serious risks. What do you think? Also, from your experience which has the best transatlantic product to offer? Thanks.

Hello, welcome to A.NET! I would suggest CO. Their service is attentive, you wont face "mechanical delays" due to Employee Strikes... but in all seriousness, both thei 762 and 764 are brand new, the 2-3-2 Seating is devine, and so are the PTVs in every seat!
Gatwick South! Id rather crash in Brighton!

I definitely agree with Boeingguy1. CO's international Y class product is the best of the U.S. airlines, better than some European airlines (AZ, KL, EI, etc.) and not far behind the best European airlines (BA, AF, etc.). My only other suggestion is that you might find better fares on connecting itineraries, such as AF via CDG. If there isn't a big price difference (or if money is no object!), though, I would go with CO's nonstop hands down.

Alitalia 772 have a state of the art IFR, with PTV, 11 movies more other channels, and you can fast forward or rewind the movies, as you want...
And the plane is new and very comfortable!

Watch out that the plane wouldn't be the 767, in that case Continental il better!

I am a DL employee so your buisness is definatly welcomed at DL but CO does have PTV's in every seat but the DL148 is rarely (Have never seen It Yet) cancelled. BUt it does have a tendancy to be oversold severly.
The only valid opinions are those based in facts

Thanks for your input. I flew CO domestic twice, and they did a great job. I flew JFK-MXP on DL84 once, and it was a pretty nice flight. I think I'll go with CO for this one though.

maybe you should book on DL and take the denied boarding compensation which you can use to pay for your next flight. DL is very good about getting you where you need to be that day if it is at all possible even if it is because of denied boarding. DL is operating 2 flights a day JFKFCO at least some days this summer.

Yep Id go CO. It's really the best airline that you've picked there, and the 764s are just a dream to be aboard.
