Was The A380 Design Around The Trent 700

Fri Mar 24, 2006 8:36 am

Hello Everybody

I was looking at a old aviation book written back in 96 or 97, and it had a article about the A380 as the A3XX back then. It shows the A3XX with Four Rolls Royce Trident 700. Was the original engines for the A380 trident 700 before the Trident 900 and P&W/GE-7570 came out for the still born 747-X.

Trent. The modern Rolls Royce engine line is named Trent.

The A380 was never designed with the Trent 700 in mind, although I'm sure a rendering from that time could have probably assumed an engine of that size since the Trent 700 is about right in terms of produced thrust.
