Currently,
BDL, BTV, MHT, ORH, PVD, BOS, PWM, BGR, PSM (if Pan Am is still flying  Wink ).

Do ACK & MVY still get Regional Jet service in the summer?

Past,
BDR, HVN.

Any more?

During the late 1960's and prior to its 1972 merger with Delta, Northeast Airlines operated DC-9's into places such as Presque Isle, ME and Nantucket, MA (or was it Hyannis?). I believe that New York Air also operated its 9's into Nantucket during the summer months. United operated 737's into New Haven, CT during the early to mid 1980's, as did Air Wisconsin, with its BAe-146's.
United's B747-400. "She's a a cruel lover."

Believe it's Allegiant (sp?) with flights to Sanford, Fl. Nothing like the good old days when NE, DL,and others did.

ACK was still getting DL/ACA Dornier 328 service back in 2003, but it never came back after that. I think CO still sends the Express Jets out there in the summer. US is all props, and Eagle was always props when they served ACK.

I didn't know BDR once had jet service. I know in the late 80's there were a ton of props and quite a BEX operation out of there.

BDR had BAe 146 jets into ORD via HVN, something like ORD-HVN-BDR, and ORD-BDR-HVN-ORD. Not sure if they ever did the BDR-ORD leg nonstop. This was early/mid 80s.

Unless DL dropped it (can't keep track of what DL does anymore/not sure I care anymore) - New Haven has CRJs to CVG...

I remember flying from Nantucket to Boston via Hyannis on a Northeast DC-9 in the late 60s/early 70s. I don't think we ever went above 2000 feet. The plane was full from ACK to HYA, then my friend and I were the only passengers to Boston from HYA.

Both American and Continental had pure jets (MD80 and 737) into ACK in the 90's. DL/NE and NY have already been mentioned.

PI, US, and CO all had full jets into ORH is the late 80's.

I think that places like Keene and Lebanon, NH, both saw NE/DL DC-9's.

Wow - I didnt think too many people remembered that service even existed!
Tcttx: You were right, to my recollection, the BDR flights always passed thru HVN, then to ORD. The plane RON'd at BDR. One interesting facet to this operation was that for a short while before they pulled out, Air Wisconsin had secured some LGA slots and had to keep them open. So they ran an oddly timed HVN-BDR-LGA routing too - in a 146! Shortly after that, they pulled out of both BDR and HVN altogether.

Yea, unfortunately, HVN lost that service this past January. It was a shock, as the loads, from what I understand, were good. I dropped a relative off at HVN for the 1:20pm departure on a Tuesday one day, and they were soliciting for volunteers! We hope they'll come back, as the staff there told us they believed it was more due to Delta's BK and that the DL Connection RJs were going to pick up more DL flying .... but then we see them announcing new routes like ATL-ILG and ATL-SOP and nothing about a reinstatement to HVN. I think we've seen the last of DL Connection , unfortunately. Maybe US will finally throw us a bone and make one of their PHL fllights an RJ -or better yet, do a HVN-CLT run in one.

Some other 'jet' facts that I remember in New England's past:

- Pilgrim ran a once weekly (Sun) service for a few months in their single F-28
BDL-HVN-JFK-YOW. This was mainly a positioning flight to get the F28
down to JFK for the evening YOW flight after it spent the weekend at the
BDL MTC hangar

- Northeast flew DC-9's in and out of not only ACK and MVY, but HYA as well
from BOS and LGA in a few different combinations of routings.

- Both Northeast (and later DL) ran DC9s into PQI (Presque Isle, ME) from
BOS

- Allegheny ran DC9-30s and BAC1-11s into HVN on BOS-HVN-DCA and vv in
the 70s

- Eastern ran 727-100s on JFK-HVN-ILG-BWI-ATL and DC9s on HVN-DCA-
MIA in the early 70s

OK I'll stop now .. LOL

Many mainline carriers also had tag flights BDL-PVD/ BDL-BOS/ BOS-PVD.

And it seems now so unthinkable to picture that DL once ran 727-200s from MHT and ORH to LGA, and CO running 733s ORH-IAD when they had an IAD hub and Piedmont doing ORH-BWI in 733s and F28s. How times have changed.

I find it interesting, too, that RJs have taken the place of prop commuter planes as far as passenger un-popularity! I know economics have changed drastically in this industry, but 15 years ago, if anyone told me that airlines would be flying small Brasilia jets on 3 and 4 hour segments in place of mainline carriers, I'd have told them they were nuts -and I'm sorry - from a passenger standpoint, an EMB145 IS nothing more than an an EMB120 Brasilia with jet engines. Every bit as cramped and uncomfortable. CRJs are just as bad on long flilghts too, IMHO.

The airline industry is such a sad place now (at least in this country).

I loved the UA flight BGR-PWM (that went on to ORD).
Business Express used to have 146's into ACK.
