With the dropping of VLC-LHR aswell, looks like IB is pruning its ES-UK operations.

Will they be using one of those stored aircraft that you can see at the left hand side of the Air Nostrum building at VLC?

No surprise here, given that IB annoucned its withdrawal from tangential routes (i.e. routes away from its hub in MAD) a few months ago. LON-AGP must be one of the Europen markets with the heaviest LCC competition, so yields have possibly been low for quite a while.

I thought the VLC-LHR slot at heathrow was going to be used for an extra MAD-LHR flight, have IB had a rethink?

Looks like Iberia is pulling a London Airways, err... British Airways. No wonder they make great partners!

Seriously, it's a pity to see IB withdrawing from AGP-LHR. Will GT increase its frequency to compensate for this?

I doubt it purely because of the issue of slots at LHR

They're putting all their eggs in the MAD basket...the effects of the competition is showing. That's why you've seen them pull more flights from BCN, VLC and AGP. The false sense of confidence is sinking in.

Isn't VLC the hub airport of Air Nostrum? Doesn't Air Nostrum fly all those marginal routes? I assume that the CRJ200 is losing out to all the 737s from LCCs... so perhaps it's time for the pilots to agree on the new scope clause that will allow Air Nostrum to take more CRJ900s... at least then they'll lower the operating costs per flight vs the CRJ200, and bring more money in for IB...
