SZX And International Routes

Wed Mar 29, 2006 1:51 pm

I find the growth of Hong Kong's neighbour, Shenzhen, very interesting. From a town of 35 000 about 25 years ago to a huge metropolis today. Looking at the photos here on airliners.net, it seems like there's a lot of activity by domestic carriers. However, there aren't too many international carriers as of yet. Korean, Asiana and Silk Air were the only ones I noticed. Are there other international carriers serving it now? Are more international airlines contemplating entering the market? It's very close to HKG, I know, but it wouldn't be the only megalopolis served internationally by 2 airports. Also, do any of the Chinese airlines serving the airport operate international services? I tried to find this info on the Shenzhen airport website to no avail.

That's odd. I mean the city is so huge now, and rich. I know HK is very close, but there must be great potential at this airport for international growth. Do any of the Chinese carriers serve international destinations from Shenzhen?
