Antonov Freigher Crash In Iran?

Wed Mar 29, 2006 5:12 pm

An Antonov freighter believed to be operated by a Bulgarian carrier crashed outside Tehran yesterday, while flying from Payam to Sharjah. Apparently the crew survived.

Does anyone have more info on type (An12?) and airline, possibly reg?

DXB is really the place where I photographed the highest number of aircraft that have later crashed...

Hey Konstantine, hope all is well in sunny DXB.

Sad news about the plane, but great if the crew did survive. Even with my limited visits to DXB and SHJ, I've also managed to take shots of several planes that have shortly afterwards been written off.

Some before and after examples:

I read some time back that the UAE authorities were trying to tighten up on all these "fly by night" operators. Or was that just the ones based in the UAE?
