NZ Cancells Flight To SIN.

Thu Mar 30, 2006 7:22 pm

NZ cancelled flight NZ81 to SIN last Sunday. Yet it is still able to pick up the Commonwealth Games team from MEL and fly thrm home gratis. As usual with NZ their fare paying pax have the lowest prority.

Go and read the article on Air New Zealand in the latest 'Australian Aviation'. I'm not Gold Elite on Air NZ because they treat their fare paying passengers poorly. I use to be QANTAS gold, and I'm not any more because of the difference.

Maybe you should take a look at the timings before saying stuff like that ..The flight that took the games team back to NZ left MEl at 1.25am arrived at 5.40am .the SIN flight departs at 11.45am .So the flight actually operated when the plane is normally on the ground anyway.. So to put the too events together without seeing the facts is stupid .. It was just a coincidence that these 2 events happened on the same day ...

No airline like to cancel flights if it doesnt have to .. Believe me NZ does care about ALL our passengers ....

Reading back into Pulkovokiwi's posts I found some things that aren't adding up too well. last week in the thread he got his ban from, he is saying many times he was flying to SIN soon many times, and that is fine and simple.

In the thread regarding NZ getting a new livery, he's saying that he's flying to SIN on Sunday, which is also fine and happy, and then on the same day, he was supposed to be flying last sunday and it got cancelled?
On Sundays there are 2 NZ flights to SIN and one being codeshare with SQ, so what is he still doing here in NZ? I'm pretty certain that flight to SIN are not what are missing!

Simon - if you are who I think you are, then your late father would not be very happy about what you are saying about airlines giving free rides, given he used to get junkets with both NZ and SQ.

Cancelled flights happen, it is a fact of aviation. I doubt they cancel them in order to annoy passengers - it would hardly make much business sense. As a paying passenger, I have never had a problem with the airline. Other members of my family, also paying passengers, have likewise not had problems with the airline. I'm sure there are a number of horror stories out there for all airlines. Perhaps you would be better served looking at the bigger picture, rather than focusing on insignificant details... Then again, if you are intent of bashing NZ at every opportunity, looking at the bigger picture is unlikely to serve your cause.

What did the last sentence there mean?

NZ codeshare on SQ285-286 AKL-SIN-AKL daily, and SQ codeshare daily on NZ81-82 AKL-SIN-AKL daily.

I heard that both SQ flights ex AKL on Sunday were choka so they took the pax off the cancelled NZ service that they could, the rest would have been put on other airlines via other ports.

As VirginFlyer said, s**t happens. For your info, ZK-OKC was removed from service due to metal debris being found in the Master Chip Detector. These shavings had to be analysed to make sure they weren't from a main engine bearing.

I'm sure you now appreciate NZ putting Pax safety first. Better to cancel a flight rather than having a RR Trent at full throttle letting go huh??

I would add alittle to this thread regarding flight cancellations. First, let me say I enjoy ANZ, and fly them as often as possible. As I am not in any aviation related industry, I will add that all my flights are on " my nickle".

I was ticketed on ANZ 18/19 LAX-CHC in May. They were cancelled. Was reticketed on ANZ 4 for 28 May. It was cancelled. Both times I found out about the cancellations from this site, or from checking the seats on ANZ site to see how full the flight was getting. ANZ had both my email and telephone number. They did not inform me the flights were cancelled. Found out by myself. I think it is incumbent upon the carrier to notify TICKETED passengers if a flight is to be cancelled. They ask for contact information, perhaps they should use it.

However I will fly with ANZ as much as I can. I like their inflight product. And I REALLY like the country at the end of the flights.

ZKNBT sorry if i was a bit unclear

what i mean is there are a lot of flights AKL-SIN so i don't understand what Pulkovokiwi was still doing here and according to other posts why is he only just flying a week later.
Also if he was so important as he likes to say it, he would've been one of the first to be put on the available seats on other airlines such as SQ

Sometimes people don't have a choice particularly if an employer has negotiated a corporate deal.

Hang on a minute, I remember you saying last week (before your ban) that you threatened to cancel your corporate contract with NZ if they don't find your bags.....maybe they lost your bags on purpose Smile

You seem to say this a lot Simon. Do you actually know what it means? Or are you trying to fit in with the 13-16 year old crowd?

Ok Simon and Mike, could you please take the personality clash off site (perhaps use the instant message function we provide for such things)...

Simon, I can assure you with some certainty that Mike is an Engineer at ANZES. Mike, I can assure you with some certainty that in spite of his over-the-top comments on this site about your employer, Simon is actually a nice guy...

Thankyou for the kind words. yes I am a "luvly" man. At least thats what my wife and daughters tell me.

I am protective of Air NZ because I believe they are great to work for. I am not ashamed to back them up and defend them.

You would be suprised Simple Simon if you knew just how much access to the aircraft and its systems I actually do have. And yes, I do play FS2004 from time to time. Its actually a really good game.

No problem Mike I will tone down my OTT comments. I have had many free rides on NZ including First Class to PPT. Just got over miffed when my bag was lost with 25 risk management reports in it. Anyway I am greatly looking forward to my flight tomorrow on NZ81. Can you please tell me which aircraft it will be A

Pity First Class is no longer. I kinda liked it myself, the 1 time I got to use it.

Fair enough. I would be a little pissed myself, especially if travelling with the family.

Not at work tonight so not able to look it up. Maybe one of the others could if they are working. I can guarantee you that it will be either ZK-OKA, B, C or D.  Smile

Hi Dave,

This situation is far from ideal but with all our schedule changes we action them as fast as we can in date priority order. Every now and then people do find out one way or another before we get in touch with them and this ends up being a little embarrassing from the airlines part but I can assure you we would have made contact as soon as possible.
