So is AA the only U.S. major carrier taking new fleet deliverys? DL, UA, and NW aren't for obvious reasons!!  down

This new delivery brings AA 777 fleet to 46 ships, with one more due before the year is over. After the 47th delivery, American has 7 outstanding orders for the 777-223ERs, which beginning in 2010, they should hopefully start arriving to the fleet as well.
The reason the newest bird is going to AFW is because that's the primary maintenance base for the 777. The techs there will be checking things over, installing the AA touches before the ship is entered into revenue service.

AFW is also AA's Rolls Royce base. There's a lot of British know-how down there, in case you didn't know.

doubful it will get full mech check by AA before April 2nd. The 772 pulled off LGW will prolly go to PVG along with the domestic 772 from DFW-LAX that was pulled. I think it's rotating on the DFW-LGW service right now.

Who is gonna get the first photo of her at AFW?  bouncy

AFW is the 777 /767 MX base, as others have already said.

Not only that, but they have to make sure the components installed on the airplane are consistent with the rest of the AA fleet. Since AA hasn't received a new 777 in a few years, Boeing has upgraded several components, and AA may have to revert back to older ones they have in stock.
That's why we're here.

They are going to AFW to acceptance inspections, And for the record yes they are differnet from the rest of our fleet. The AIMS and ELMS cabinets are completely different(THEY SAID IN CLASS FOR THESE AIRPLANES THEY CAN'T GET P2 CHIPS ANYMORE). As for that those are the only major differences. And none of them you will see unless you work on the airplane. The pilots have two less gauges and a switch for the brightness on there FMC CDU's not a knob.

Just a bit of useless information.

With the 2 Gauges less you mean the all in one ISDF gauge right? Replacing 2 other ones each displaying individual information, just like the newer 744`s have.

Isn't AA 'loaning' Boeing a 777 to do some tests for either the 787 or 748?? I remember hearing something along those lines on this forum. Presumably this 777 will be used to replace that one. I believe a 777 was freed up when the RDU-LGW flight was reduced to a 767??
Correct me if I am wrong.
Glad to see AA taking delivery of new a/c..

I wouldn't say they are 'loaning' it to Boeing...I have heard the price tag is $900kUS per month.

Is this aircraft fitted with the new business class? I don't think it is, but wouldn't that make more sense? The seat pitch isn't really any different, so it wouldn't change the configuration of the plane...

Unfortunately, no. The new C product will be tested in one 763 and, barring any spectacular failures, then be rolled out across that subfleet. Then in 2007, the 777s will get the seat.

The rationale for this is that the 763's have no F and are in more dire need of a really competitive C product.

I suspected it would be for a lot of dinero. It can't really be as high as 1mil (minus 100k)....but that's the reason i put 'loaning' in inverted commas!!!

The AIMS cabinet is Aircraft Information Management System, which monitors aircraft systems

The ELMS cabinet is Electrical Load Management System, which controls the generators, and load shedding.

No, SQ is the largest 777 operator with (58) active in their fleet. I then think they are followed by UA (52) and AA (46).

UA did get unload about 8 777s but still have 52 in service. When AA eventually take delivery of all theirs, they will have more 777s than UA....unless UA orders more before then....

I think DL reduced the number of B777s that they ordered because of a dispute with the pilots union over payrates for B777 pilots. If i'm not mistaken, Delta converted some of it's B777 orders to B767-400s because of this.

As you can see ,it was the aircrafts 14th flight when delivered to AA and the airframe had only flown 13 hrs & 44 mins....
One intresting thing to note is that the aircraft is designated a 772A by AA although i seriously doubt it has the coffin style seats, unless they stripped them out of 7AT while that frame is on lease to Boeing....????

How many does CO have?

18. They own 16 and lease two from ILFC.

This new AA plane is the 555th off the 777 line and the 207th withh RR Trent 800s.

So, currently in US fleets are 124 777s (all -200s or -200ERs).

54 have RR (AA & DL)
52 have PW (UA)
18 have GE (CO)

I believe that AA have 8 more to come, DL have 5 more on order and CO have 2 more on order. If these are all delivered one day the fleets will then be:

67 with RR (AA & DL)
52 with PW (UA)
20 with GE (CO)

Better haul it!
