How many pilots?

Wed Nov 11, 1998 9:47 am

I am learning to fly out of John Wayne airport. I have around 20 hours and will be soloing in march when I turn 16. I can not wait. I was wondering who else flies in this forum? How many hours and what rating do you have?
Thanks

I'm not licensed but have two friends who have their own planes and they've given me plenty of lessons. They are both airline pilots. I'll get my license as soon as I get out of college and have the time to keep my hours up.

I also fly. I have a VFR private pilot license. I've been flying for almost a decade and I have logged close to 300 hours. I have flown Cessna 152's and 172's.

I plan to start taking lessons soon (once this Colorado winter is done) and to solo on my 16th birthday. I know a few people who are/want to take lessons. One of them has his own plane (a Navion Rangemaster I think) even though he is only 15, his dad is a Continental pilot that flies 737-800s out of Cleveland.

I fly at Daytona Beach Intl. for Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I have about 25 hours and am presently awaiting a stage check so I can solo. By next April, I expect to be instrument rated.

By the way, I fly brand new C172s with less than 300 total hours on the Hobbs. their all equipped with GPSs. pretty nifty.

Hi Iain.

I have a private pilot licence with VFR rating.
I started out with the flying lessons in Jan 1992,
soloed after 15 hours in April and got my licence
in June-92 after 44 Hours.
So far I have logged 173 hours, I fly Piper PA 28.
I can assure You that when You solo for the first time You get an tremendous feeling of freedom.

Good luck with Your flying!!
