Boyd On AA's New "Stop And Think" WA Strategy

Sat Apr 01, 2006 12:47 am

AA must have ignored Boyd's suggestions on how to effectively fight repeal of the Wright Amendment.

"Hide the Children! The Wright Montster's on the Loose" is one funny rant from Boyd about AA's new "Stop and Think" strategy.

I'm not a WA fan at all, and I think it should be repealed gradually over several years. Boyd likes the WA, but his comments on AA's new strategy are pretty "spot on." Plus, it's a great read.

Next thing you know they'll insist Jesus wants the WA in place.

He does!

Boyd likes the WA,

His position is that it does not matter as much as people like to think. He thinks DFW is the best positioned airport in the region now, since it is in the middle of the Metroplex and has good freeway connections. Take out the WA and you get a few dozen new flights. AA looses pricing power on a few routes, and Southwest gets a better network.

He does seem to sympathize more with WN than with AA. He also seems to think DFW is run by a bunch of scaremongers and fools.

IN SHORT.... To say that Boyd likes the WA doesn't make much sense. He seems pro-repeal to me, though he doesn't think the issue warrents all the hype it's getting.

Well we are talking about emotions and Texas.

He does!

I rest my case.

Think what you will about Boyd, and at times I do, but he nailed this one square on. More proof that being a crybaby is acceptable behavior in the US.
I don't understand everything I don't know about this.

At least in US industry. It's always been cheaper to complain about competition from others who innovate than to innovate themselves. The auto industry is a perfect example of this kind of inertia.
