SkyEurope New Website

Tue Apr 04, 2006 6:07 am

Finally ! I just came across the new SkyEurope website:

http://www.skyeurope.com

And I must say that it is much better than the old one.
After receiving the new 737 they are really making progress. They also changed their booking system from Radixx to Navtaire. Also a great improvement.

Way to go SkyEurope !

It's a nice website indeed, they probably are changing everything at the same time.. Logo, livery, website and reservation system (not that it's part of corporate identity, but still)

And Navitaire SkySpeed can only be better than Radixx  Wink

I just want to know how they can offer the fares they do...?

Paris to Prague, a return ticket in June for just 69 Euros...tax inclusive!
And that wasn't the lowest either...there was a lower fare, 49 Euros, but not on my days!
Amazing!

Are they making a profit?

The way SkyEurope is making up for those low fares is to let the passenger who books at the last moment pays higher fares.. The first couple of seats are offered for a low fare and the fuller the aircraft gets, the higher the fares are.

Besides that, SkyEurope reduces costs because they don't offer free inflight service, but are making money by selling food and drinks, they stimulate sales via the internet, so reducing staff numbers. They have very short turn-around times, so they can be in the air longer, the place where an aircraft is supposed to be because that's the place where it's making money. The same as any other LCC.

Another thing I can imagine, is that staff in Eastern Europe is cheaper than let's say staff in the UK. No offense meant to people from Eastern Europe btw.

I don't know whether they are making profit or not, but ordering 32 737-700's is not something to do when an airline is not profitable or expected to become profitable..

It their company history they were never profitable, and I am not expecting to see a profit for 2006 neither.

Their business plan expects a profit for 2007.

SkyEurope is a fine airline. Good fares, nice staff. Looking forward to fly them this weekend!  Smile

They will also need some time to get profitable the new routes out of PRG, hope they can do it for 2007!

Agree with you! I have flown to BTS (EMB120) and BUD (B737) with them and I really enjoyed my time on board!

Yes, I completely forgot about the new PRG routes. That certainly needs some time to develop. I see that the Emb-120 phase out was expensive for them so we can expect some financial improvement for this year already.

Good luck to them.  Smile

Seems that they are doing quite ok recently. Load factors are up to around 75% (was in the lower 60s before), so just about in the range where LCCs break even. Of course I cannot say because I don't know how much they earn but its another good sign from the company.

What's the advantage of that for the end customer?

Staff getting frustrated by a computer does have an indirect effect on the passenger..

Furthermore, Navitaire (SkySpeed) is far more efficient than Radixx, which increases productivity at the callcentre. (And with EUR 0,30 per minute rate, it helps the passenger when the booking is done quicker  Wink)

Although passengers have little to do with the computer system, it is something the staff can use to offer more service.

More facilities to book: Group bookings, SMS check in facilities, etc......
