So I get home from work yesterday to find an answerphone message:
"Hello Mr Marsh-Giddings this is **** from the Air Canada Schedule Change department, just to let you know your flight times from Ottawa to London Heathrow have changed slightly, could you ring me on *** please".
Normally this would have been acceptable, had I actually had a booking with them!
I have absolutely no bookings with AC, the last flight I had booked was YYZ-YOW back in November which we didn't take in the end. We certainly have never even spoken to AC about YOW-LHR - why were they ringing?
I rang back this morning and was told "Oh sorry sir we made a mistake and shouldn't have rang you".
My question is, A) why did he ring about a flight I wasn't even booked on, and B) having mistakenly shown me as booked, why were they then managing to tie my name up with my telephone number as well as linking it to the other booking?
What sort of procedure do the airlines follow for this - is it an easy mistake for them to make?
