Well for a very long time this was not an issue as EK
was the only real player. Now that EY
and G9 are in the picture, there seems to be some jockeying for position going on. For example EY
jumping into Canada (arguably before they really had the equipment to do so at the quality level they would have liked) effectively locking EK
out until the UAE-Canada bilateral is reworked.
I don't think there is a bidding process or anything like that between the UAE carriers for new destinations. This is something that I imagine will cause some conflict in the long run. While the UAE is very stable and cooperation between the individual emirates is great, pride is always factor and this seems like something that could cause problems in the future.
