Delta's Upgrades At ATL

Sat Apr 08, 2006 10:06 am

Delta opened its new Crown Room Club in Concourse C at ATL. It looks extremely nice. Here is the link to see pictures of it:

Also, there is a short video that shows the other upgrades that Delta is planning:

Upgraded cabin, new Crown Room Clubs, Airport renovations...now if only they could come to an agreement with the pilots...

For those who can make it, the ATL lobby renovation has progressed to the point where the change is obvious. It's pretty radical. I like it by looks, but I was hoping for a flow-through design instead of walk up/back up. We'll see how it works.

It's about time. I remember seeing signs back in at least 1999 saying that it was coming soon. I'll check it out on Sunday when I'm there.

Looks pretty. As a FORMER Crown Room member, MCO/Orlando is clearly the most beautiful. SLC/Salt Lake in MHO ranks #2, but I think it was inherited from Western. The rest are, well, like the rest of Delta, shall we say, somewhat tired.

I don't know that they are going to be here in 2 months, so why in heaven's name should I be dropping $300, discounted no less, because I am Gold Medallion, to re-up with them? Please, someone/anyone, give me a good reason!

There is a remote chance, (sorry guys, a VERY remote chance), that this once illustrious airline might actually re-define itself, get out of bankruptcy, and actually, gasp, actually, provide amazing customer service. Like food in steerage. On time departures (gasp, gasp). Clean, sparkling, polished equipment, and sorry, the fake wood floor in the loo don't make it. (I ain't holding my breath on that one). Hot towels (what?) in first. Drinkable wine served in a real glass, in first. Hell, any good reason to be flying with them rather than the competition.

I quit Crown Room because they were packed, noisy, and served really lousy wine and "trail mix", and on several occasions, couldn't even get into the packed Crown Room on Concourse E in Atlanta. NOT ACCEPTABLE! I paid premium dollars that I worked my butt off to obtain for that modicum of pre-flight luxury. Luxury, however, is not a concept the new Delta comprehends. Perhaps if that concept ever seeps through to management, they might actually find out that, shock of shocks, people come back to them.

In the meantime, steerage with the competition beats "First" class with Delta. Tragic, but reality.

Paying premium dollars to fly in a garbage scow just doesn't cut it. I've been a loyal customer since 1984. Your enemies don't tell you these things, but your friends do. I'm booked into Singapore with Delta in May. I'm strongly suspecting that I'll be flying NWA for literally half the price for the same itinerary. Sans Crown Room/Business Elite lounge. And much as I truly feel for the really professional people of Delta, I'm not losing too much sleep worrying if they go belly up on April 19.

I have noticed that flights to and from ATL on Delta have increased tremendously since about a year ago. I actually always loved flying Delta. I never had a problem. Perhaps that's because the last time I flew them was in July of 2001. They definitely offered a lot of great services, not to mention their brand new 764's. I truly hope they right their ship somehow. Btw, getting rid of Song is one of the worst ideas I've heard of in my opinion. They were making profits with Song, now I don't know what they're doing.

On time departures (gasp,gasp).

Every DAL flight I've been on as of late has left on time..or earlier. People are in their seats 15 minutes before ETD.

Song amenities are being spread out through DAL...

That little bit of an ad there kind of resembled an ad for a house in an upscale suburb somewhere. That club does look very nice. I'd like to see what kind of view it has out over the gates, if there are any views, but I am sure that there are...

Actually, only the number of destinations served has increased tremendously. The number of flights is currently less than last year, but will be on last-year levels over the busy summer months.

Obviously Delta can't satisfy you. Go find and airline that can. More room for me.

Correction, very LIKELY chance.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
provide amazing customer service.

They already do.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
Like food in steerage.

The American traveling public have spoken, and they want low fares instead.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
On time departures (gasp,gasp).

Delta's ontime percentage is, at worst, industry average. I don't know where you're coming up with this.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
Clean, sparkling, polished equipment, and sorry, the fake wood floor in the loo don't make it.

Well, obviously anything they do won't satisfy your ridiculous standards. Go somewhere where you'll be happy.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
Hot towels (what?) in first.

Why?

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
Drinkable wine served in a real glass, in first.

Um, they already have this. Are you just making stuff up now?

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
In the meantime, steerage with the competition beats "First" class with Delta. Tragic, but reality.

Correction, it's your imagination.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):

Correction, with comments like yours, no you haven't.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
I'm booked into Singapore with Delta in May.

That's amazing. They don't fly there.

Quoting GeorgiaAME (Reply 3):
And much as I truly feel for the really professional people of Delta, I'm not losing too much sleep worrying if they go belly up on April 19.

Then you don't feel anything for the professional people at Delta, and that makes you a sick, disturbed human being.

Glad I was here to correct all your mistakes.

Actually ..... DL does offer hot towels in First ... but only when there's a meal served. They pass out hot towels so you can clean your hands prior to your meal. And believe you me, they are HOT ...

The chicken dinner I had last night on my way from PHX to ATL was actually quite good. Salad, chicken, mixed veggies, a warm roll, and a really good chocolate cheesecake (who makes that thing? YUM!).

Who on earth uses the term "steerage" to describe first class??? IMO, steerage, on an airplane, would be in the cargo hold, if you think about it  Wink

Delta is trying to become a better airline by providing amenities and upgrades above their Low-Cost Competition..but it is going to take time to become a whole new airline. I know they are flying in all their FAs to Atlanta for two days of training to show them what the new Delta is all about... We will see changes.

I am sure if I showed the exact same pictures of a new lounge opened by Singapore Airlines...everyone would marvel at how nice it is...
