I heard that AZ initially reneged on the bookings, and that it eventually followed through. At any rate, I would have gone for it had it been anywhere close to where I wanted to be What would I do in LCA?
Just in case anybody read this and thought Alitalia were good guys for honouring this they originally cancelled most bookings (including mine) then reinstated them completely changing the fare rules, eliminating any stopover in Italy and in many cases changing travel dates. The fares are now not changeable as per the fare rules on booking and any call to alitalia yields a very rude person on the other end.
Getting all this straightened out is costing AZ
much more than it would have to leave all the bookings alone. Personally I'm taking an easy come easy go attitude, although I still plan to fly as my flights haven't been screwed with that much, but it reflects badly on Alitalia and I would certainly think twice about throwing my regular priced business their way in the future.
BTW - anyone have any experience of their Magnifica class on the 767/777?
