What happened to the T7s Aeroflot phased out?

With which operator are they now?

Aeroflot operated two B772ER : VP-BAS & VP-BAU.

Both of them are now with Vietnâm Airlines as VN-A147 & VN-A151, leased from ILFC.

Quiet sad, those where the best looking 777s around. Does anybody know which engines they had?

What was the deal with the T7s by the way...

1. Why did they lease them?
2. Where did they fly them?
3. What was the config on board?
4. Why did they dump them?

Yep, they also flew them to SFO. Flew them out of here thousands of times. Both are beautiful birds, even though differed a bit in their interior, I'm sad they are gone.  Sad

How did -BAS & -BAUs cabins differ? I flew them both in Business and they seemed to be the same. Sadly I only flew the 777s once; man those GE90s made one POWERFUL takeoff when empty. (JFK-SVO)

Too big. SU needs "smaller" aircraft withe less seat capacity to offer more frenquencies, rather than fewer flights with a large a/c.

I didn't mean structure-wise. One was a bit more run-down. The seats felt different in Economy. One of them, I don't remember which, definitely showed more signs of aging. Most of my Aeroflot flights were actually the T7s. I had the pleasure of flying them SVO-SEA-SFO-SEA-SVO, as well as JFK-SVO-JFK, and Beijing-SVO numerous times. The take-off never ceased to amaze me!

GVA was never a regular 777 destination as it is scheduled to be served by a 319. Some charters have been done using IL9 and if there was ever a SU 777 in GVA is was a real exception.

Aeroflot's 777's were stunning. It had a very attractive tail and the most beautiful GE-90's in the skies!

I don't know why they cancelled the tail and engine design, they could have still used it with thier newst colors!

Luckily I will always have my Herpa 1:400 model of VP-BAS

You know.. They even made this T7 look like a Russian built aircraft!
By the way, What is the black paint under the cockpit windows for?

OK. I've seen some pictures of it in GVA and the question was "Where did they fly to?".

They seem to have been there only in January 2005. Actually, it was only BAU.

AFAIK backs of propellers are also painted black for this reason, when you have propeller in front of pilot.

I think old AC aircraft had it also... Thought MA had it but I was wrong, just a nvay nose.

Where did SU receive their T7's from... which airline were they leased to previously ?
