Boeing Shares Hit All Time High

Tue Apr 11, 2006 3:59 am

I just caught this story when I was reading the news:

http://today.reuters.com/investing/f...OC_0_US-TRANSPORT-BOEING-STOCK.xml

They are a shade of $80 a share (I should kill my broker for having told me they were overpriced at $45), with there being a demand for call contracts at 80 and 85. The price run-up is speculated to be due to large contracts expected to come in from China, as well as the anticipation of the Farnborough Air Show in July.

All aviation shares are high these days; EADS also had a good day, despite the uncertainty about the BAe buy-out at daughter Airbus.

With the later in mind as an example, it seems the big players think the market is peaking right now so if I would have BCA stock, I'd sell it in the coming months, preferably after one or two carriers announced an order for Boeing planes to make maximum use of the trend of the market.

But then it only takes 2 mouse clicks to find different advice.

The EADS stock should be doing well given that they are basically announcing a 4 billion dollar stock buy back.

As far as Boeing goes, Their stock is actually a bit pricy to me to invest in right now. (despite the fact that I think their market is solid, and they are much better positioned for the long term then airbus).

Several Wall Street firms have price targets on the order of $110 for Boeing. And you can't buy stock in BCA...only the parent company.

Besides which, selling would be a momentum trading decision, and momentum trading is what screws up a lot of people.

They're not buying back EADS shares. They're just buying back the stake (not shares) that BAE holds in Airbus. That should be a net wash in the for stock value. If it goes up for down for any reason, it should be the fact that EADS no longer has to check with BAE on major decisions.

Actually no. It presents an acquisition by EADS of something which they don't own. Something (cash or stock) will have to be exchanged for that, which affects the financial position of the company because they either spend real money or dilute their shareholders ownership in EADS.

Who wouldn't like making $3,000?

I could reasonably see Boeing breaking through $100/share. Especially if the 787 program continues along smoothly and orders continue to come in. Orders from SQ and EK would be huge, however - as well as perhaps more orders from the likes of GECAS (which, though not expected, are always possible). A formal announcement of the launch of a 787-10 would help as well. Maybe if they're lucky, they'll get an order for 747-8i's.

EADS stock isn't doing badly, though its off its all time highs for the moment. It's just good to see Boeing bouncing back after all the troubles they've had.
