DC-10 Questions

Tue Apr 11, 2006 4:41 am

Just a few quick questions: Who flew DC-10s between ORD and SFO in the summer of 1990?

And one other: Did UA operate DC-10s between LAX and IAD in 1992?

Thanks!

Regards,

UA has flown every type of aircraft they have/had between ORD-SFO as both are major hubs (I have been on the 742-4, 772, 762-3, -10 and all the narrowbodies) . As for LAX-IAD, both are hubs also so I am sure the -10 was used. Someone with a timetable from 92 could shed more light.

Have no info from -90 or -92 but UA flew 4 DC-10s on ORD-SFO and 2 on LAX-IAD in July -91.

I think American also flew DC-10's from ORD to SFO back in the late 80's/early 90's when they flew DC-10's on main domestic routes, definitely ORD-LAX. American also has a hub in ORD and is the only other airline, besides United, having flown the DC-10-10 aircraft in large number on domestic routes for nearly three decades.

Hello! NW would also be on that list as they are still flying them. Also let us not forget CO!

Luv2fly,
Yes I know Northwest still has DC-10's. I was talking about the DC-10-10 Series scheduled on domestic flights. Northwest never had DC-10-10's, they had 40's, now they have a few 30's left but no more 40's. Continental had a few 10's and 30's. Sun Country also had a few 10's. I was saying AA and UA were the two largest operators of the 10. However, it is true that Northwest also was one of the first airlines to introduce the DC-10 in the early 70's.
