First Flights Out Of DCA?

Tue Apr 11, 2006 1:47 pm

Does anyone know what time the first scheduled flights (passenger, freight, whatever) out of DCA depart at? I'm interested especially in weekdays. I know Alaska has a either a 6am or 6:30am, is that the first one out?

It appears that AA, AC, DA, US, and UA also have 6:00AM scheduled departures.

Is that the time they leave the gate, but what it the real departure time? What is the DCA curfew hours these days? Orange County, and San Jose all have early flights but they have to wait until the curfew is over before departure.

That is the time they leave from the ground.

Well, according to the timetables (for some random selections), these are gate departure times, but in reality departed 3-4 mins early.
I can't imagine all these flights are scheduled 5:56 a.m.

Yes, there is a curfew, but I thought it was until 0700 local.
So, either it is now 0600, or those flights are allowed due to their noise levels (the curfew is for certain DB levels only).

The curfew is off at 6am. I hate AA mad dogs departing from runway 1. I don't need alarm clock when they depart and flying 300 feet above my place.

There is no curfew. Noise restrictions are in effect from 2200-0700 though. In that time period, certain aircraft can not take off (DC-9, 737-200, MD-80) or land (DC-9, 737-200 to -500) without receiving a $5000 fine.

Yes, a curfew is a restriction.

Almost all airports with noise curfews only restrict aircraft noise above a certain DB level...even SNA.

Yes, a curfew is a restriction.

From Dictionary.com:

Quote:
1. A regulation requiring certain or all people to leave the streets or be at home at a prescribed hour.
2.
1. The time at which such a restriction begins or is in effect: a 10 P.M. curfew for all residents.
2. The signal, such as a bell, announcing the beginning of this restriction.

Good god man what is your point???

Read your own post....requiring CERTAIN or all people.

First of all, it's aircraft not people, and the DCA curfew requires CERTAIN aircraft to land outside of the 2200-0700 window.

Goodness, has anyone ever noticed how EVERY SINGLE THREAD on this site eventually deteriorates into some topic that has nothing to do with the original post?! My original question was simply, "what time of the day is the first flight(s) out of DCA?" If you want to talk about what time your baby sister needs to be home from the prom, please do it somewhere else.

Hahaha, no offense taken. I was just making a point, but I know it's hard to grasp one's tone when a conversation is entirely in writing.
