Matt what was the missing airline? If its EK, then I don't personally work with them, thats check in only. Its Ringway who handle them.

Bit of a shame ZB have pulled out of GIB, I liked doing that flight, nice and easy! As Humberside said, the aircraft will be used for more PMI and AGP flights  Smile

Yes it was, but fair enough!

Yes its a shame the GIB route is being pulled. Looks like people up north will have to hike it down to LTN or find some other way of getting to GIB. Perhaps the local government will see sense when tourist numbers decline as a result and lower the landing charges.

The GIB route was quite popular in the summer, used to get upgraded to a 757 on some days. Just a shame its another route lost by ZB and MAN.

Is it possible that WW or LS might look at GIB? I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of this one, it was one of the more exotic destinations from MAN, and it's a great place. Maybe one day they might re-consider.

Report on SQ in the Manchester Evening News today. As speculated, they are going non stop on all 7 flights next year, and also considering a further 3 weekly frequencies (no dates given)

Spurious pax news...whenever I've heard the loads for the inbound HLX HAJ servcies, they've always been 100+ so I guess we might be seeing the BA HAJ services pulled within the next 12 months! And the new CWL-NQY service had about 30 pax on the evening service yesterday which is not too bad.

Some of BA Connects loads are shocking, what the passengers are paying is another matter though. Ironically Willie Walsh has come out today saying the initial response to BA connect has been "excellent".

It is very spurious. There are very few places left that BA can operate to without some LCC or other piling in, but hopefully the core EU routes of MAD, CDG, FRA, BRU, TXL, DUS, MXP, LYS, GVA and HAJ will prosper. According to Willie Walsh, in another report in this evening's MEN, the early reponse to the low-cost Connect has been 'excellent'.

I've been busy admonishing people to use BA where possible, like my sister, who flies her family of four to GVA 5 times a year. I would hate to see BA Connect fail.

Forgot to mention the other day, Biman's first flight to DAC had 32 joining passengers in MAN which aint too bad i don't think for a transit flight. Loved seeing their DC-10s over the weekend, can't wait to see more of them during the summer.

I've also heard that. Loads are constantly high on the direct services, so i don't see why the can't operate daily direct flights, and an increase in frequency would also be welcome, would prefer them to have an afternoon arrival into MAN.

Nope, particularly as they don't show up on Expedia etc - thus those people made the extra effort to book Biman (i.e. they knew about the service), rather than taking the easier route of using expedia or an airline website and taking whatever is cheapest.

Exactly, the flights aren't even in amadeus when i last checked, and to my knowledge, no advertising has been done in the local area. The airline must have contacted ethnic travel agencies and informed them of the service. I did hear some guy saying he was a travel agent when they were checking in.

I guess SQ will want to fill the void of MH by going non stop every day/adding extra frequencies. They will also want to try and stop Thai coming to MAN

More competition the better especially as I am planning to go to Australia in November and want to avoid Emirates 777 10 across. Did that last year never again.

Shockingly bad! Demoose checked on Amoss a few weeks back, some routes with single figure pax numbers.

Regarding SQ I've heard a daily 773ER non-stop service, but I hope it will go double daily. LHR gets it 3x daily, and plus non there will be a gap left by MH.

Heard from a Servisair Employee that MH do want to come back to MAN, when they have sorted themselves out financially, possibly with a 777 routing via a European City.

The impression I have is that the majority of bookings on PK and BG are done through ethnic travel agencies. I'm sure we'll see the numbers of passengers grow significantly on MAN - DAC. 32 is pretty good for week one, on a service that hasn't been announced or marketed.

If more proof were needed that MH are seriously in the shit.....?

If they thought a route was viable enough, then it would make more prudent long-term economic sense to continue it, and not scrap it.

It would be entirely possible for MH to re-work their operations, both in terms of capacity and connectivity, without pulling out of markets in which they think they have a future.

Shame, because they certainly know how to treat their customers.

Would you really treat gossip from Servisair staff as proof? I doubt it is no more accurate than gayrugbychap's random thoughts on new routes to be launched from MAN.

My Sources are good, not like GayRugbyMAN's random run in's down the back corridors of MAN. By the way I didn't say it was proof!
This source, told me first about MH pulling out, about KM moving over to us, and other airlines coming and going from handlers.

Sabre CRS shows the routing to be DAC-DXB-MAN-JFK-MAN-DAC.

Extra stop at DXB is, I understand, due to range ex-DAC due to the prevailing westerly windflow.

Unfortunately you don't seem to understand how MH works, which is NOT like most airlines. They suffer from corruption and stupid political interference, by people who don't have a clue how an airline operates.

You only have to see how their bizarre heavy loss making KUL-CPT/JNB-EZE route is continuing. The fact that their former mouth almighty Prime Minister has a ranch over there has nothing whatsoever to do with this of course. He has also criticised MH stopping LHR-LGK, where he also happens to have a home.

I have no doubt MH will be back at MAN (be nice if they dropped ARN and went KUL-MAN-EWR...) but it's probably going to be with a 2 class 777. Why they didn't do this a while ago I have no idea. Other than Xmas/New Year time there was never anybody in F on the 744's anyway.

MH will be back in MAN if they have to maintain the EWR service. ARN really is not working so MAN is a candidate. However, I think the last thing MAN needs is another New York service. DL JFK sales are not great.

Any reason why? Punta Cana is already reasonably well served. La Romana has one flight a week - and according to a friend who visits the Caribbean quite frequently, La Romana was one of the better places of the Dominican Republic. However he did say that the aircraft was only about half full, but this was over a year ago. Do you know how the loads have been recently?

Where have you heard that from? Thats all we need in T2, yet another long haul departure in the morning. Unless it coud be related to them wanting to bring in the 77W in the future, but they can fit them on stands 27, 31 and 32 in T1.

If the airport bosses have got any sense they will keep EY in T1, T2 is already busy enough in the mornings. Plus, if they did come over, SQ might have to park remote more often and we don't want that happening now, do we?!!! Big grin
