New ANA 777-300ER?

Thu Apr 13, 2006 3:06 pm

Can anyone confirm that ANA's flight NH007/NH008, SFO-NRT-SFO, is now a 777-300ER? The prior plane for years has been a 777-200. Their website says as of April 11, the new plane was to begin the service. Thanks in advance!

NH received its fourth 773ER in March, which makes NRT-SFO on the 773ER possible.
The NRT-IAD is up next when the fifth & sixth are delivered in the summer.

Still not sure where the 772ERs will be redeployed and/or if they are going to be reconfigured. They are to receive three 772ERs this year too.

NH007/NH008 will alternate between 777-300ER and 777-200ER until the June 30 and return to 777-200ER July 1 - October 1. 777-300ER operation will begin every other day to IAD from April 18-June 30, and from July 1 NH001/NH002 will be operated by 777-300ER daily.

Thanks for the info!

I also noticed that the NRT-SFO flights in August will be with a 772 and in a two class configuration. So I guess the three new 777-200/ERs will all be two class aircraft ?

NGO-CPH! Show AY, JL and LH that they´re not the only carriers that can serve NGO with non-stops to Europe!

Here! Here! Come on NH Build up NGO into a second International Hub and connect it to HND, more domestic locations and give NRT more frequency.

Another possibility is that the 772s flying on the Asian routes could be replaced by these new deliveries. The current aircraft used on these routes are all non-ERs. Though the performance of the 772ER is not needed for the Asian routes, NH maybe ready to upgrade the interiors by virtue of new aircraft instead of refitting the older airframes.
The replaced 772As could go to domestic flying.

Hello! I just saw ANA's B777-300ER at SFO yesterday afternoon. She's a long, handsome gal! It appears she's not going to be parked at ANA's usual gate (G93/G95?). Instead, she's angled sideways at G101. I believe that's the gate used for Lufthansa's A340-600 for Munich, too. Most room for the stretches, I suppose!

So right. As Japan's second airline, NH needs to assert itself more as an international carrier. I mean, domestically, JL and NH appear to be very equal (all domestic gates at NGO have both NH and JL counters so as to enable both airlines to use the same gates). But when it comes to long-haul routes and regional Asian services, NH takes a step back, letting JL take the lead. Too bad, IMO, as NH is a great airline. AFAIK, NH has 14 destinations in Asia, 3 in Europe, and 4 in North America, for a total of 21 international destinations, which is nothing compared to JL's network. I believe if only NH had more planes, they could easily steal part of JL's market share, both airlines are undoubtedly hold eqaul places in the minds of the Japanese.

Cheers

FYI, NH's int'l ops are only marginally profitable. Last year was the first year ever NH made a profit on its int'l flying. This is due to enhanced first & business class seating and reducing the number of seats in the cattle-class and discontinuing some low-yield routes.

Because of Japanese carrier's high cost structure and no real measures being taken to tackle these costs, NH is taking the responsible road of carefully measured growth.

Good point, Carpethead! Or perhaps they will expand their international flying with two class 772ERs ?

Thanks Flyua, and everyone else! That's what I was looking for.

Cheers!
