Has anyone flown on Midwest Connection? Was the service any different than the mainstream?

Hello,
I have flown on Midwest Connection, one time, from GRB to MKE, and MKE to CLE over a year ago. The routes were operated with a Beech 1900, and a FRJ, respectively. I found the service to be fine for short flights that they were.
From GRB to MKE, it was a mere half hour flight, and on the Beech 1900, there is no in-flight service. On the second leg, the service was fine for the short flight. We were served a tasty brownie in addition to the normal beverage service. Overall a pretty good experience. I have not flown on YX mainline, so I honestly can not give a comparison. But everyone who has flown the mainline seems to have enjoyed it.

I flew Skyway from PIT-MKE in August last year. I thought it was very good for a regional aircraft. Didn't get the chance to fly mainline Midwest as I quit DGS in September, two months before the MCI-PIT run debuted. But I do have a friend that works in MKE for Skyway in training and he really loves it. I would give YX a good grade, simply because they give the service of a premium carrier with LCC pricing. I give them a lot of credit for rebuilding their brand after 9/11. I didn't Skyway stood chance in PIT after NW started PIT-MKE, but they more than held their own, even though the flights were never completely full.

Flew YYZ-MKE-MSP on them/YX last year. FRJ and B717 service respectively. Seats on the FRJ are (obviously) somewhat smaller than you find on the B717, but were nonetheless comfortable and done up leather like their mainline counterparts. Service was decent and ameniable (drink, snack and the baked on board cookies). Definitely would fly them again if I have the chance to.

How are they doing in PIT with their five dailies?

4x-MKE
1x-MCI

@MattRB,

When did you fly from YYZ-MSP??? I worked for Skyway up until last September. Anyways both are equivalent as far as service. The only difference is that there are no food sales.

I used to do the run to YYZ from MKE all the time.

There is no airline by Midwest Connection. Although there is Skyway Airlines dba Midwest Connect and the service from 85% of the F/As is far better than mother carrier Midwest. Midwest F/As only really care about the biz traveler even though the average joe has made a come back at Midwest. Skyway F/As, since there is only 1 per plane, tend to offer far better, more personalized service to everyone reguardless of how they are dressed. But skyway does have a few bad apples for F/As, I don't like flying with them, well because they don't know customer service when they see it. Thats why I gave 85% of SYX F/As a good rating. And as far as the other half of skyway goes...1900Ds..well there is no service, with a lot of F/O's sure newer (6 months or less) and less experienced seem to annoyed with having to do their preflight safety brief. Either they are rambling through it at an unheard of speed or are looking all around the cabin, playing with their hands instead of being calm and looking at the passengers. Skyway needs to include customer service in their F/O training new hire and recurrent training.

I have been hearing that myself. YX stated that they were very happy with their PIT service according to numerous other threads on the forum here...

Hey Akeytravel just wondering but since you started this thread were you planning on flying YX connect? If so what route?

My thinking exactly!  highfive  If I was gonna book a flight on YX connect it would have to be on the FRJ or else im not goin. The only route that might cut it would be to MSN or maybe GRB. But then theres the flight down to STL on the 1900's which takes an hour and a half. Thats insane!  vomit  Oh yeah...and to add to that no service/flight attendants or bathrooms.

There is also the Be-1900 to SDF, another long flight.

Not as long, as it might seem. I've done that route 4 times in the last 1.5 months. The time seems to fly by now.
