Effects Of Fuel Prices On The Industry

Sat Apr 15, 2006 2:28 pm

Fuel is holding at reccord levels, and its clearly changing the airline industry. We all know it increases costs, fares, and hurt bottom lines.

I believe it has also made the playing field more level than before between legacies and LCC's. LCC's cut costs and lowered fixed opperating expenses, but the big legacies have done this too, and the high cost of fuel has hurt airlines across the board.

How will it effect fleet deicisions, routing, hub v. spoke, and growth? Who, if anyone, benefits from the costs (besides like, Exxon) of fuel, who is hurt the most? How is it changing our industry, short term and long term.
