Air Austral B777 CDG-LXR-CDG

Sun Apr 16, 2006 1:31 am

http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr is showing that Air Austral is operating CDG-LXR-CDG today with a B777.

UU001 CDG-LXR 07:05/12:05 0 B777
UU002 LXR-CDG 13:35/18:50 0 B777

Is this an error or are UU really operating this service? If yes, then is this a regular charter or is it just covering demand over the Easter holidays?

It is a regular for the whole summer. UU has reduced capacity on the CDG-RUN because the market has suffered from the chicungunya so they fly this run instead.

I would say that if it's not a charter or one time deal it's trying to use the aircraft as best as possible. DL, here in the states, uses it's 777 internationally and on some long cross countries but when it has the time they'll fit a 777 in doing, I believe, ATL-FLL-ATL.

Best.

Thank you Airlittoralguy. I've just noticed it has been uploaded onto Amadeus which I think makes it a scheduled service for the duration. Never thought in a million years UU would fly to Egypt let alone with a B777 to LXR. Definitely makes a change.

On a side note MS operated A332s flights to RUN during the Hajj season. Here is a photo.

UA777222, aren't DL short on B777s. Would the ATL-FLL flights be red eyes?

A bit off topic, but wat is chicungunya?
I can see the word chicken with some imagination, does it have to with the birdflu, or am I making a total idiot of myself now Smile.
Its all about supply and demand...

MaartenV, I had to google it myself. It's an infection spread by mosquitoes.

Like I said, they cram them in when they have the open slots. And yes, they are short on T7's but they're also short on money so I guess with one comes another...

Best.
