Hub Airports That See Only One Airline

Sun Apr 16, 2006 4:01 am

I wanted to know whether there are any airports that are "hub" airports, but where only one airline flies to. NOT only one hub airline - one airline, full stop.

The only one I can think of is Clermont-Ferrant, which is a hub for Air France - but there is no other airline other than Air France flying there!

Any other examples like this?

Clermont-Ferrand is a *'real* hub, i.e. flights are timed in a way to connect to each other. There are three daily "meeting times". The following destinations are served:

France:
Lille
Paris ORY
Paris CDG
Metz/Nancy
Strasbourg
Mulhouse/Basel
Nantes
Bordeaux
Biarritz
Toulouse
Montpellier
Marseille
Lyon
Nice
Bastia
Ajaccio

International:
Milan
Bruxelles
Amsterdam
Genève

Most flights are operated by Air France's regional fleet (ER4, EM2, S20), but there are also some F100s and Airbusses.

It is quite an interesting hub, because transfer times are extremely short (I think 15 mins minimum).

Saab 2000, nice little 50-seater, not a success, though pretty fast for a prop.

I don't know if this counts as Cargo, but Wilmington, OH, is a private airport for DHL, which used to be Airborne Express, and its a hub, but I don't think anyone else uses it.

Not sure if they considered it a hub, but when ProAir was around they were the only airline at DET (Detroit City Airport).

Wonder why nobody has mentioned KEF yet.

That place is FI 757 parking only, all others will be towed.  Smile

Does any other airline (i.e. scheduled) fly into CRL? I'm sure there are one or 2 FR hubs that qualify.

Does Ryanair even have "Hubs"?.....since everything is point-to-point; no connecting going on....
Shouldn't the proper term be "Base"?

Trat airport (TDX) and Sukhothai airport (THS) are privately owned by Bangkok Airways so only PG flies there.

I am correct in saying that Southwest had Love Airport all to itself for a few years until American recently re-started flights to that airport? Southwest has a lot of flights in and out of Love.....is it a hub, kind of but not really. I know this is a controversial topic, and I dont want to go there.

Ryanair has a "base" at Charleoi Airport - now know as Brussels South. Again, its not really a hub just a large operation....and then there is Ryanair at Hahn (outside of Frankfurt), same arrangment.

No, actually Continental Express has been serving DAL for quite some time, at least since 1999. Plus, a few years ago you also had Legend, which was the reason why AA returned to DAL then with 56-seat F100s, and ASA, which operated from Legend's terminal.

No, CO has flights to IAH for a while now. For tomorrow I am counting 13 CO flights DAL-IAH. Also in the late 90's, Legend had a hub in DAL.

Sorry, you are correct.......new about Legend and the AA 56 seat F100 experiment, forgot about the CO express flights.

Thanks.
