New Lufthansa Livery (On STA Travel Web Site)

Tue Apr 18, 2006 5:44 am

Look for yourself...
www.statravel.de

Why, why, why do they use a fake / edited photo on their web site?

While I'm used to mismatched photos in the media (like picturing a Qantas 744 when they report on the newest Southwest route), this is ridiculous. I thought STA was a halfway decent travel agency that know their business.

And I doubt that LH would ever use such an "aggressive" livery that not what the Name Lufthansa stands for.

Aside from that, unless you have an A300 go tech, you wont see an LH 747 to any of those destinations.

Are they trying to say that they are an "A-plus" airline??? It looks like a modified Aplus gas station logo... Big grin

I am not sure if there are A-plus stations nationwide, but they are common in western PA Big grin

I myself found out that STA barely ever offers the best fare (even on a student saver ticket). They might be quite competent in their fields, but even they must have the slightest fragment of taste left in their brains, otherwise they would choose on of the many other awful repants ... or why not to go for the best alternative ... the real livery?

Ok, I'm just home from an 8 day trip, but even with my tired eyes, that livery, logo-lit at night, would look absolutely fantastic.

Reliability - punctuality - good service - safety and all the other goo/bad thing s you associate with Germans/Germany. Got mark 1 for analyzing this in marketing few years ago in the school.

And please view this from a normal passenger side of view and don't post the on-time performance of LH for the last 50 years together with the never ending discussion about missing PTV'S in Eco.

Hola Ricariza

The company was founded in 1926 and headquartered in Berlin, following a merger between "Deutsche Aero Lloyd" (DAL) and "Junkers Luftverkehr" on January 6 of that year. The company's original full name was Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft. The name Lufthansa derives from Luft (the German word for "air") and Hansa (the Hanseatic trade organization that was mainly active in Northern Europe during the medieval times).

Hope it helps

Regards

BM

I am sure that there are better chances of LH starting PIT service as opposed to that happening... or vise versa considering that a LH manager or rep would likely visit PIT or something of the type before an anouncement would be made... Oh wait, one was made. "We're not coming..."

You know... it's not always about offering the lowest fare, but sometimes more about offering the most flexible one at the lowest rate available for that flexibility...

Well... maybe a bit...  Wink ... but I simply do mind if I see comments that I know are misleading, and that doesn't specifically have to be about the company I work for...

I think it's quite nice, but I doubt the fact of a livery like that on 'Lufty birds'.  Sad

What does it stand for Jorge? I know that 'LUFT' means air, as in luftwaffe: air force. But this has been puzzling me and my german teacher @ school. Thanx in advance.

Sure, I know, but you are working in that company. That's enough reason to blame you. lol

I highly doubt that people decide where to book a flight, based on net pix. Cheap flight fares can solve lots of problems.

Good service? You gotta be kidding me. This is not typical for German companies, & under no circumstances Lufthansa stands for good service. Economy passengers are treated rather arrogantly. That's my experience.

@ Birdwatching - that is -may be- a true Bavarian. The rest of us - and most Bavarians neither - don't wear Lederhosen.

and - @ Tristar500 - the opposite of a "true" German is not a "wrong" but rather an untypical German. Lufthansa of course has a German identity but honors the fact that meanwhile only about a third of their passengers are German.

And I am not going to tell what Lufthansa really stands for  Cool

Absolutely right. STA fares are fully flexible. No-one sells a product at anything like as cheap. Try changing a cheap ticket bought off Expedia (love them though I do) - no chance. STA are a great company and make it possible for young people and students to travel the world with the flexibility of a full fare J class executive.

I am stunned that your German teacher has never heard of Hansa - it was a German trading empire that covered Northern Europe and the Baltics from the 13th century til the 17th century, with Lubeck at the centre. This is not an insignificant part of German history.

I don't want to sound like a smart a$$, but the Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft discontinued services in 1945 and was erased from the commercial regsiter in Berlin in 1965.

Lufthansa as we know it today was actually founded in 1955. Notice how they turned the two words "Luft Hansa" into one "Lufthansa".

I know you were actually asking what it literally stands for. Nevertheless, I am gonna add the following: I am studying in the U.S., and every time I fly back to Germany on LH, I already feel at home when I step on the aircraft. That is what LH stands for from my point of view.
