Almost Six Months Of Interjet

Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:03 am

The first of the many new Mexican LCC, Interjet, is reaching its sixth month operating from its hub in TLC. I guess is a good time to evaluate them.

I've flown IJ twice. The first time was in December (TLC-MTY-TLC) and second time a few days ago (VER-TLC). In my view, they are doing a good job. My flights were on time, their FA’s were polite and their in-flight service was amazing if you compare with the traditional LCC (Ryanair comes to my mind). In both short routes, I got a snack and either a soft drink, beer or booze. Yes, alcohol free of charge in a 50 mins flight!

The only thing different was that in my second flight they had IFE. Produced by TV Azteca, Interjet offers general news and show business gossip. Their title was "Primavera de Interjet", which sounds somewhat cheesy if you ask me.

What is your opinion? Does somebody have info regarding its loads? Are they being successful so far?

PS. I hope this time my thread belongs to Civ Av. My first intent was rightfully deleted since it wasn't clear enough if it was a trip report or a legit Civ Av thread. Cheers!

The only thing worst than the GOP is the Democratic Party, think about it!

IIRC they started flying on Dec. 13, 2005, so that would be only going into five months... Any way, a few days ago I heard from reliable sources their ovrall load factor is lingering in 57% - with a tendency towards growth. They expect to make very good numbers over Easter holidays, and start the peak season in June in well-settled 65+% LF's - well beyond their projected break-even point.

I believe they will succeed. By then, it will also be time to see what the real impact of Volaris has been.

Really? Interesting. I don't think alcohol was available when I flew TLC-MTY in December with them. I am sure many people will be pleased.

Interesting too. Short flights like theirs really don't need to have video entertainment, but I think it is great that they show a news program during their flights. I think this is good to attract business travelers.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

To be honest, I haven't flown any of the new LCCs, but Interjet looks to me like a Mexican Jetblue. I see the most prospects in them. Their loads will pick up as time goes by, and they will establish themselves. I sure will be on their first fly out of LAX when it opens.

I am sorry to move away from the topic a bit, but how about Volaris? Do they also have IFE? It seems quite logical that with Televisa as a partner they could consider in the future offering premium programming at a cost, but I have no idea.

That sounds really cheesy!!!

I've flown IJ once on Feb TLC-GDL-TLC and Y4 last March 2X, TLC-MTY-TLC and TLC-GDL-TLC. By far... my personal opinion, VOI is doing way better!

I not so sure, we have to wait for VOI's expansion. Right now, Y4 has 3 planes less, but by the end of the year they will have the exact same number or even 8 and next 2007 VOI will get more delivers vs. IJ.

Full Televisa programs. IMHO, it sucked!

My vote goes for IJ.

I ve flown both of them

IJ on the very first flight to CUN Dec 5th. and Y4 to TIJ last Mar 18th (in the first week of operation).

Topic/ Winner / RMKS
Reservations: both use the same Internet Host Navitaire
Check-in: both ez and fast
F/A : INTERJET Nice and Friendly all Female
Seat Pitch INTERJET By far better on IJ
IFE INTERJET I Prefered the Air show even on short flights than
Televisa or Azteca programing
Food &Bvgs INTERJET On a 3+ hrs flight TIJ-TLC at 6am LC arriving 1130LC a cookies and a juice is nothing.
Bagagge Claim both Fast as long as Airline concerns.
On Time Performance Both were late that time, but its quite understandable, since both were on their first days of operations Now as I hear on the Scanner both quite good.

Interjet operated some extra flights this week-end to ACA and CUN.
Now there is the posibility to book Hotels in their web site, and in less than a month they will be offering ITs (Inclusive Tours).

IJ really did a good start.THUMBS UP guys.AND PLEASE STAY HERE FOR LONG LONG TIME.
