My DL flight got delayed out of ATL because of 2 snakes that were loose on the a/c. The plane arrived from San Salvador, then continued on to SAV.. after the snakes were removed.

All I know is if there's even the smallest hint that there might be a snake on a plane, I'm not getting on it, period. I hate them suckers.

Yep, often people do ship reptiles. I have seen cases of snakes, lizards, and spiders in AC Cargo, all loaded. Not too long ago a container(box) of snakes broke while loading onto an aircraft, snakes were all over, plane was delayed for a few hours while the last snake was unaccounted for. Ended up maintenance had to take apart the cargo interior to find it near a warm spot underneath the cabin floor.
You would be surprised to find out just what is being sent as cargo on the aircraft that you are travelling on!!

One of the most entertaining threads on the topic:

Unwanted "Guests" On Flight Deck

From Tech Ops 10/20/05. While I've been lurking around here for years, I'm afraid I don't know how to do a link to the other thread. Sorry....

Over my dead body! We have a no snake policy on FL Thank God!
A hottie honey wanted to take her ferret but, I kindly explained our policy that rodents can't go. We allow only small dogs, Kitty's, and some birds. Now, if a passenger tries to take a slithery reptile as a service animal; well then, I'll let you know the outcome. Of course, that is after I recover!

At Delta we had reptiles all the time. Both Venemous and Non-Venemous.
