DL ATL To MCI Flight With AF Flight #?

Sat Apr 22, 2006 1:09 pm

Tonight while on a DL flight from ATL to MCI the gate agent kept calling out the boarding announcement as DL flight XXXX and AF flight XXXX and even on the arrival and departure screens it was listed as an AF flight? Is this just a code share leg extension? if so why the ATL to MCI leg?

Flights can be codeshares even if they do not have an international destination.

AF has their code on many DL segments... they connect w/ AF flights from CDG providing AF the ability to sell CDG to MCI under their code.... just one of dozens of destinations that can be added to their route map through codesharing.... DL does the same thing on many AF flights beyond CDG. and other airlines do the same type of thing w/ their partners.

Interesting... I wouldnt have thought twice about CDG to ATL but onto MCI had me puzzled.

Nice to know that someone from France would consider MCI a destination! I guess those French know good BBQ when they smell it. Come on down!

Well I think its aimed more at the American MCIer that has miles on DL or AF. But hey maybe French people like BBQ's.

Damn Straight! I've boarded more than one French resident with a bottle of Gates BBQ sauce in their bag.

They do this at MKE as well with the DL flights to ATL and CVG.
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

I've noticed that as well here in CID with the 3:25pm flt to CVG, it also carries an Air France flt number

They do this everywhere, in all three of the major alliances.

Heck from STL, we have QF flights to LAX.

DL even codeshare on some DUB-CDG flights operated by CityJet, even though DL flies to DUB themselves!

Why? almost every flight from ATL/JFK to any other major city in the U.S. are a codeshare flight with AF or AZ. Go to europe and almost every flight out of their international hubs have either a DL/NW/CO codeshare on em.
