Longest Domestic Routes Out Of ANC And Hnl?

Sun Jun 11, 2000 1:35 pm

I'd like to know which scheduled domestic routes are the longest ever operated, past or present, out of Anchorage and Honolulu. I'd expect some to be comparable in length(both flight time and mileage) to the many transatlantic routes currently operating out of the eastern US or even farther west. I'd also be glad to hear what airline and a/c type use these routes out of HNL and ANC.

Today is ATL-ANC on Delta's 767-300 is the longest terrain domestic. The longest flight domestic is EWR-HNL. It's Continental on DC-10 operate everyday.

Thanks, Big777jet. That's interesting - Delta flying a 767 to ANC from ATL! I was just thinking - wouldn't BOS be a little farther from HNL than EWR is? Does anybody know of any direct nonstop flight between BOS and HNL? Boston should be big enough of a US market to support this, I believe. Also, BOS is the easternmost major US international airport.

On a related note, has any airline picked up the ANC-HNL nonstop route? I know Western used to have it, but I haven't heard much about it since. Was it at all profitable? Just curious!

United flies ORD (Chicago) to HNL daily on a DC10-30.

IflyMidwExprss: Hawaiian Airlines used to fly L1011s between ANC and HNL direct until the early to mid '90s.

HawaiB777: No offense, but c'mon, you can do better than that! ORD's right in the US Midwest!

I doubt it, BOS-HNL will have market nonstop flight. There are no feeding routes from New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Islands and Maine that much! There is no currently major airline in BOS hub. Delta used be mini-hub. I think, Delta is using seasonal flight only summer time from ATL-ANC running. Delta got beat flight long terrain than JFK-ANC within 45 miles more. JFK-ANC is not US airline by Korean Air and China Air for refuel to Asia routes. Thanks..
