Checking Distance Between Airports

Mon Apr 24, 2006 11:09 pm

I am just wondering if there's any website helping me to find out distance between different airports.

Thanks.

Quoting LongHauler (Reply 2):

I could not find block time / flight time difference. Distance is of course accurate but flight time in my opinion not. It calculates the time needed pretending the aicraft is at its maximum speed at take off and landing too. An example is the LUG-ZRH route (50 minutes block time, 35 minutes flight, only 14 minutes are given by this page).

For straight-line distance between airports in the US, airnav.com works great. Just search for your destination airport, then on the right side of the screen you'll find a little tool that asks where you are coming from. It will reload the page and your result will be in that same section.

Enjoy!

If you try the different sites you'll find they don't all give the same answer. The one in reply 2 is the best-- it can go wrong for near-antipodal points, but AFAIK it's correct if any site is.
