A Few Nagging Questions About WN/737

Tue Apr 25, 2006 12:26 am

I've been thinking of a few dumb questions (that I hope haven't been answered before):

1) What is the missing window on the 737 for? I always assumed that it was where the bulkhead went but I don't think that is correct.

2) Why don't WN's bulkhead seats have tray tables?

3) How does WN get it's aircraft in position for the mass of Saturday-only flights? Are they stowed and then towed in or does the Friday night RON'ers magically work into the schedule?

4) Is WN going to keep one aircraft in the 'classic' livery like US/HP have?

(this is one of my first forums posts so please be nice) Big grin

There isn't really a "mass" of Saturday only flights. WN operates less flights on Saturday than any other day of the week. There really aren't more than a couple dozen (if even) Saturday only flights.

I believe there is going to be 3 in the original livery for the original cities of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.

Sorry I can't help you with your other questions, I would be interested in knowing also.

1) What missing window...? The one just before the wing...? Every 737 has that blanked out, not just Southwest. My guess is that is where the ventiltion ducts run.

2) Nearly every airline bulkhead seats have no tray tables per say. They are actually built into the armrest and stow away into it... or they use the plug in style. Again, not limited to Southwest alone.

3) That is the art of scheduling

4) I kind of hope so. I like it far beter then the new blue.. which is already fading bad.

The two classic A/C are 714CB and 792SW. I guess the third is not assigned yet.

YOU FOOL!!!! J.K.  Wink Wow, This is actually a pretty cool post.. I didn't even know WN was setting aside 3 planes for the retro scheme, although it looks like N711HK is the only one that has been REPAINTED, while it looks as though the others have just retained their current schemes

Well repainted yes in the Gold Scheme. Not in Blue Canyon. 714 and 729 will be repainted at some point in the Gold Color Scheme Soon.

N711HK looks great. She has a definite gold color, and the removal of the window striping really gives her a clean look;

I know every 737 has that blanked out, not just Southwest. Is it the supply for the overhead passenger-controlled air vents?

So then the question is why didn't WN put in armrest-style tray tables?

Agreed. The blue paint that they used only seems to be lasting max a year or two.
