Longest Routings For B757?

Tue Apr 25, 2006 10:09 am

I noticed Finnair will make holiday flights next winter from HEL to Panama City, with stops in Halifax (HEL-PTY) and Bermuda (PTY-HEL), total flying times with stops 15h and 13h... Similar long routes on B757?

For charters, SkyService flys loads for Signature Vacations form YVR, YYC, YEG and YQR to POP in the Dominican Republic which run from 7-8 hours. It's a cattle-herd (WN has some competition!) but its cheap!

When did AY announce their new holiday flights to PTY? And is there a chance they'll restart LIR (I was told AY served LIR for a while in 1998, with MD-11s) or perhaps start charter service to SJO?

HAM-EWR is almost close to the max range of the 757, since HAM and TXL are around 136 nm still air distance apart from each other. Also around 9 hours of flight. Both TXL and HAM are served with wingletted 757s though.

CO started TXL service before the winglets were added. Additionally, EWR-TXL is slightly longer than EWR-HAM.

Skyservice also used to use the B757 from YYZ to TLV... with a tech stop in DUB (YYZ - DUB 6hrs DUB - TLV 5 - 6 hrs for a total of 11 hrs) and return was TLV - DUB 6hr DUB - YYZ 7hrs - 8 hrs for a total of 14 hrs.

Am I cool or what??

I know that, but doesn't HAM have similar problems as TXL when flying a 757 back to EWR, especially with the strong headwinds during the winter?

That was something I was unsure of. When did CO start service to TXL? I only know HAM was started on June 9th out of EWR (the arrival being a June 10th arrival), and got quite a few non-wingletted 757s, before the fleet was, and still is, upgraded. If I'm not mistaken, at that time only Ship 111 and Ship 134 had winglets.

It is not something that happens that often, and I would venture to guess that CO doesn't have an issue any more than they do during strong winds doing westbound 738s on EWR-LAX.

BTW, EWR-TXL started on July 1, 2005, so you had the same lack of winglets as before. Oh, here is something interesting given the 757's performance. At 255,000 pounds, CO can take off from a 6500 foot runway. That means that they would still have over 300 feet to spare if they flew into THF. Given the O&D nature of the route, that would be amazing to see.

CO EWR-TXL,HAM and OSL these are so long that sometimes they have to block out seats so they can make it there (restrictions). They announeced CGN (or did they) and thats pretty long haul.

The 757 is not really suited for 9 hour transatlantic flights IMO, because its small (i.e no loitering space around restroom etc) and also I read CO pax. can't use the lav's on the whole flight (EWR-HAM/OSL/TXL) because it does not have enough liquid for the lav's for an flight that long.  Smile

I've heard on a few flights the lavs have filled also. Comfort wise and service wise, CO's transatlantic 757 service isn't supposed to be bad, it just can't hold a candle to say, AC's 767 service.

as I know DE will use this summer the 757-300 for HAJ-YHZ-YVR routing pritty long flight if you ask me.

Air Finnland uses the 757 into PMV I think also via YHZ.

With a stop in PTY (in the past the stop was in CUN, I believe).

It seems that once or twice in the past, when weather and wind conditions were ideal, the 752 made it non-stop to EZE from MEX.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

I noticed AY's holiday division is selling package holidays to Panama, they don't sell individual flights, at least not yet.
No more flights to LIR next winter, in that corner of the world the AY holiday divison (7xB757) flies next winter to Mexico, Brasil, Dominic Reb., Cuba and Panama.

Didn't UC do MIA-SCL in the 90s? That's 130 miles longer than EWR-TXL.

TW used to operate the 757 between LAX and SJU nonstop. CO operates a seasonal CLE-LGW flight on the 757. When I was in AMS earlier this month CO had a 757 winglets in there.

I flew MX EZE-CUN nonstop (I then continued to MEX on the same A/C) on 2001. Don´t remember how long the flihgt was, but about 8+ hours I believe.

Also LAPA (MJ) used their 757 to fly EZE-PUJ. These were charter flights.

Greetings !

It's been descussed a couple of time.

I think the winner was CUN-EZE (MX)
Runner up: MIA-SCL (UC)

YVR? Wasn't it YYZ? Anyway, if it is YVR, then the aircraft will definitely need a tech stop on the eastbound as well, but in the case of YYZ, DE flies the eastbound nonstop with their 753. That would be pretty much one of the longest nonstop 757-300 flight around.

Canada 3000 used a B757 to fly from YVR-SYD via AKL/Fiji/HNL but later changed to A330-300.
