They need one for what routes would you like to have more than just a redeye on  Big grin I nominate JFK-SLC. That of course will happen in a heartbeat IF Delta goes out of business*

* Disclaimer-Jerseyguy does not wish for Delta to go out of business and for hard working employees to loose their jobs. Jerseyguy applauds Deltas choice to intergrate Song into Delta mainline

Unfortunately all the expansion is going to be done east of the Mississippi. We are significantly reducing capacity on the transcon markets and redeploying the 320s elsewhere. Heck even the JFK-BOS is going to be mostly 320s now just because of the demand, the 190s can't keep up!

This feature from JetBlue is such a blessing. I just asked them to fly KRCA-KDHT. It will be so great when they start service on that route. Then I can quit driving 457 miles each way to rehab. I can't wait!  praise

I did it 2 times on 2 different days...

I suggested ORF with service from JFK & MCO.

I suggested MCI with service from JFK, MCO, and RDU.

Since it asked where should we fly next, I didn't think they wanted current stations as a choice.. but I could be wrong. If so, let me know cause I got some hella-good choices to throw in there from you know where!

Just requested AVL be added. An E190 to DCA or JFK would be welcome (currently only CO (EWR) & US are on those routes, with limited service). I'd hop on those flights in a heartbeat.

I don't understand the point of this?

Today I read that jetBlue is going to be deferring some A320 deliveries and sell up to 5 more.
Growth is going to be slowed way down.....so why are they getting folks worked up into a lather so?

What jetBlue is realizing I hope is that selling $99 transcon flights is not as profitable as a flight priced the same but traveling only a third of the distance.

And this blog even goes so far as comparing jetBlue with peoplExpress.....another low fare airline based in the NYC area, with it's name beginning with a lower case letter....
So, are they? Are they the 21st century version of peoplExpress?

Where should they fly?

1 Bowling Green, NY, NY is the address of the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of New York.  Wink

I wish them well, but it's not going to be easy to find profitable routes.

With WN & FL firmly planted here; I don't think B6 will ever choose PHL. Similar would hold true for BWI.

If it weren't relatively close to NYC; B6 could go for ABE.

I was just gonna suggest ABE, lol.

I think they could do it, actually, considering the number of New Yorkers and Philadelphians moving into the Lehigh Valley. The convenience factor of utilizing ABE over JFK, PHL, et al is huuuuuge. Use the -190s for a couple dailies ABE-JFK and vice versa and they'd be set. And isn't ABE the type of secondary airport that B6 said it wanted to connect with the ERJs, anyway? Plus, it'd be a great way for B6 to compete with WN without actually stepping on it's PHL turf. I think people would really take to it; they'd be willing to spend some extra time in-system (if/as necessary) if it meant cost and time savings outside.

Realistically, does ABE have a chance? Nah, I don't think so...  Sad

That said on a more serious note I think that finding good trans-49th routes would be good for JetBlue. JFK-YYZ, BOS-YUL or SLC-YVR, SLC-YYC are good routes that aren't trans-cons.

Hopefully they take into consideration GRR-MIA. It would be nice to take a direct flight to FL, instead of driving to someplace like ORD or DTW  hissyfit , or catching a connecting flight.

The only way for ABE to work for B6 IMHO would be to offer a couple daily A320 routes to Florida, the West Coast, and/or maybe AUS. Backtracking to JFK (or even BOS) just to utilize the rest of B6's route system is just nuts. CO doesn't even use a plane for its ABE-EWR feeder route; they utilize a shuttle bus that treks along US 22 & I-78.

In terms of B6's E-190 service at ABE, I only see ABE-BOS as doable as either a stand-alone or a connecting stop for any northern routes B6 may have.

Break the AA stranglehold on non-stop service to DFW from JFK and LGA! We need an alternative.

I wonder if B6 would be interested in doing a PIT-ABE route once they become well entrenched in PIT. I am not sure of what the demand would look like for that route or even if there would be a point into doing so, considering that for an additional, I dunno 60 or 70 miles you could fly to JFK from PIT... Right now, I'll take their current startup routes to JFK and BOS out of PIT. It's already a new airline. Even if they were just to do one flight to one city per day or a few weekly, it's still new service.

Yeah, you're right; my thinking was that B6 might prefer to run a shuttle to JFK (or IAD, for that matter) rather than open competing flights along their same routes. But I guess that sort of operation gets too close to being legacy hub-n-spoke territory, huh?

Quoting PHLBOS (Reply 38):
CO doesn't even use a plane for its ABE-EWR feeder route; they utilize a shuttle bus that treks along US 22 & I-78.

Which is in all honesty probably the best thing to do--it's just as fast and you're not sitting in patterns all day. Of course, if you hit traffic on '22--you're screwed, lol.

Quoting PHLBOS (Reply 38):
In terms of B6's E-190 service at ABE, I only see ABE-BOS as doable as either a stand-alone or a connecting stop for any northern routes B6 may have.

Also -SEA, -OAK, -LAS, -MSY, and of course MCO. Those routes could do quite well out of ABE. On a related note, I wish G4 flew to LAS from here, that would be quite nice. But according to their route map, the furthest East they come out of their LAS base is Toledo, oh well.

Quoting Steeler83 (Reply 45):
I wonder if B6 would be interested in doing a PIT-ABE route once they become well entrenched in PIT.

Well, first they need to start service in ABE before they consider short-hauls like that, lol. Right now we have four US dailies. I'd like to know what the figures are for that route...
