I just read that on the other thread. Great news about SSH! Will the flights be operated with B738s?

Mike, do you have any information why Astraeus aren't operating LGW-Al Alamein flights this summer? They were the first airline to serve the airport last summer when it opened on the Egyptian Mediterranean coast.

All I remember about the El Alamein flights was that the pax were not overly impressed with the accommodation, ie. the standard of the hotel. Apart from that, I'm not sure why.

On the subject of Egypt, Thomson are offering Liverpool-Sharm next summer aswel! Here's hoping the recent events won't put too much of a dampner on things.

Disappointing considering it was reported as "Hot with UK Tourists" but not too surprising considering the resort complex centres around a single hotel plus its associated facilities (5 Star Movenpick Hotel and Spa).

Fantastic news. So that's 3 new routes in one day; NCL-LXR, HUY-SSH and LPL-SSH!

I too hope the effects of recent events don't last too long. WTTC and the Egyptian tourist board predict things should be back to normal by June, TUI and Thomson have stated they will not cancel any trips to the area, the FCO's advice on travel to Egypt has remained unchanged (which could of had a disastrous effect if it had adviced against all travel to the country) and even Astraeus's site states that their flights to SSH, TCP, HRG, LXR and RMF* will remained unchanged.

On a side note how are Astraeus's scheduled services on the LGW-SSH, MAN-SSH and LGW-HRG routes doing?

* RMF's website shows that BY (from LGW/B757) and TCX (from MAN/B757) are the only British airlines serving the airport, so is it an error on AEU's website?

Hi Horus,

RMF is being operated by AEU this summer, from LGW on the 757 on behalf of Tui, and from MAN on a 73G on behlad of Thomas Cook, which is where the confusion lies I guess. Loads on SSH and HRG are OK, bearing in mind that summer hasn't really kicked in. El Alamein had pretty low loads last summer, with the passengers complaining about the accomodation, and lack of things to do. Because of the low loads it was able to be operated non-stop on the 733 for most of the summer.
