Warsaw Terminal Evacuated

Sat Apr 29, 2006 7:16 am

Today at 16.00 local time the departure area of the main terminal of Warsaw airport was evacuated after someone had left a bag unattended. It lasted for about 35 minutes, then operations resumed normally. Apparently this happened more often - since I was one of the hundreds that were ordered to leave the building, some ground staff told me they expected it to last no more than half an hour.

Interestingly, no announcement was made in English at any time - as far as I could tell.

I have pictures of passengers standing on the road ramps that I will post when I have the time. Was there any mention of it in the local news?
I scratch my head, therefore I am.
