Emptiest Transpacific Flight Out Of SFO?

Sun Apr 30, 2006 4:26 pm

Can anyone tell me what transpacific flight out of SFO on average is the emptiest (has the most empty seats) then with a connection to BKK?

I hear flight CX885 LAX-HKG, on average is only 70% full, it being the 3rd daily Cathay Pacific LAX-HKG flight.

Is there such a flight out of SFO?

Thanks!

Why, you want to fly on an empty aircraft? Lols, I would too.

Well, maybe the SQ flight to ICN, or JL to NRT.

CI is always the emptiest out of SFO in the evenings, I guarantee you will get a seat all the way to BKK via TPE from SFO on CI. I have done that route many times since its so empty and I get my seat 3 hours in advance even on weekends

I'll be on CX 885 a week from tomorrow. 70% loads sound excellent! A little more room to spread out during a 14 hour flight sounds really nice.....

Dont take this as advice, but in the past when CI was oversold out of
SFO, I still made it on due to an average of 65-70 no shows, which is pretty common with CI booking. all the oversold CI flights I was on, I saw atleast 25-35 empty seats in economy. almost always no middle seats on the SFO flight for individuals, I always got a window seat  Smile

Any non-United flight that's a one stop beyond SFO probably is relatively more empty than nonstops, ie the SFO/ICN or SFO/HKG portions of SQ's flights to SIN will be more empty than KE's nonstop or CX's nonstop.

CX should begin a second daily flight out of SFO, instead of a (not near full) third out of LAX. Right?

Cheers!

What about the SFO-AKL flights. Does anybody know what NZ load is on that route? It can't be too bad, because NZ upgraded the flight to a daily flight.

What are the loads on average in August on the AKL-LAX-LHR flights? Any chance for me of an empty seat next to mine in Y?

The chances of an empty seat in Economy in August on the Air NZ LHR-LAX sector are absolutely zero.

There is a slightly higher likelihood of sitting next to an empty seat on LAX-AKL, but even that is pretty remote.

NZ 1 LHR-LAX will be full of people holidaying in California and French and Tahitian people connecting onto NZ23 LAX-PPT. Unsold seats just aren't going to happen.

Bear in mind that Air NZ has the world's best economy product on NZ1: 34 inch pitch and AVOD. BA, Virgin and United just pale in comparison on that sector.
