While the color of the new uniforms (at least for the men) is nice, the cut of the jackets is not good. The pictures presented make them appear one way, while in reality they differ. The double-breasted coat doesn't do much for a great deal of guys. The coat itself is too long, once again, the pictures are not quite accurate. The company says that men must button the top button of the jacket, if that is done, then their ability to move confortably is diminished plus the fact they have said to leave the bottom button undone, when that happens the whole look is ridiculous. I haven't seen an actual dress on the women, but if you do go by the pictures, the red dress looks like it belongs at a cocktail party rather that being worn at work. It seems too long also. The rest of the pieces for women do seem OK though.

I really hope they do go for something a little more daring than the usual US airline uniform. I never know what airline an american F/A is from when I see them in a hotel or airport because they are all very similar.

I think they're great and more importantly, many of the people who will have to wear this, think that the uniforms are a significant improvement. Most front-line employees I have talked to have told me how they can't wait to burn the current grey ones and start wearing the new ones...But then again, let's take bets on how quickly this post will degenerate and when the first clown(s) on a.net will:

i) whine about how unfair Ch.11 is and how it allows DL to spend money unnecessary (discussed to death already and not true)
ii) whine about how DL management is wasting money on the wrong priority (discussed to death already and not true)
iii) whine about how the more senior employees will not look good in them (discussed to death already and not necessarily true)

Wow! the one in the middle of the third block in the long black number must work in first class ! Not too practical on an aircraft though lol.

Someone should let Armani have ago - The men's jackets would fit well then  Smile

A couple of facts, the red dress only goes up to size 10 or so I remember reading. Also all the photos shown on the link have not been chosen for use. I have been critical of DL in the past, though I do believe these new uniforms are a step in the right direction. The old ones reminded me of soccer moms.

Listen...I have family that fly for Delta and they all say how excited they are for these new uniforms. Most have already received theirs and they say it is a huge morale booster for an airline that is in need of anything positive that it can get.

As Luv2fly stated the red dresses only go up to a certain size and then one of the other uniform choices is avail to those people. Also if the red dress thing doesn't work for an individual they can choose the other uniform option.

I don't care whether or not DL is in CH11 this is needed for all the employees who for the past 4.5 years have faced pay cuts, the threat of layoff, the threat of terrorism in the skys, and cheap consumers- This is a plus for their work in hard times.

I love the new look...and look forward to wearing mine tomorrow....granted the cut of the blazer is European and it is slimmer than standard US cuts...i need 2 sizes bigger...oh well...still looks great...

Some of the crews working the NBC olympic charters in Feb wore the new uniform and literally turned heads while walking through the airport...

It looks "fabulous"

The "New Delta" dawns tomorrow

May 1, 2006

ss
ps...the Red dress is available up to an 18....hopefully there will be some wise choices made  Wink

a new look for a new beginning, looks great! Adds style and will look different and stand out (in a good way) from all other F/A's. How long until other airlines follow suite? And which airline will be the first to do just that?

The double-breasted coat doesn't do much for a great deal of guys.

Double-breasted works best on guys with a little extra girth, on someone slimmer, it swallows them up, making it look like a little kid wearing a too big suit jacket.

While it's alright to go and introduce a new uniform, some folks will argue that it's a wasteful expense with the airline in bankruptcy. The reality is that it's all about image, and the old uniforms, while still pretty new (they were introduced a little more than 6 years ago), are associated with the current state of the airline. These new uniforms are part of the image change that nearly every airline in bankruptcy does in preparations of emerging from bankruptcy.

One group of Delta employees that definitely needs to consider a uniform change is the pilots. The images of groups of them marching around several airports in their double-breasted jackets with the gold buttons was shown nationwide, and perhaps gave a negative impression. The naval look of those uniforms looks so out of place with the new F/A uniforms.

I think they look great on those models. How they work on the actual folks is still TBD whether or not they are young, old, or whatever. One thing that concerns me is the sleevless dress for the ladies. Not sure if that is a great idea on a hot plane or long haul flights across the pond. Too bad I'm flying tonight and will have to wait until Thursday to see the, on my return home.

The uniforms portrayed were the original prototypes--they've since been changed. Ties/Scarves different..more in synch with the re-stylized tail logo. Beige logo been replaced by red and relocated to jacket lower pocket.
No comments on our mascot....oops I mean former spokesperson C.D.

Alot of internal controversy over these uniforms.

my favorites are the red wrap dress and the women in the last two blocks on the right...classy

My knowledge about Aviation Marketing and my knowledge in fashion tells me that the new DL uniforms DO NOT match with anything about the airline... maybe with the small red on the widget... The old gray and blue uniform looked way better IMO... Besides, DL's cabins have blue walls and greyish seats, so now Im picturing a 50 year old granny (no offense to the senior F/A)dressed in RED with a HAT walking down the aisles... no no no!!!

On the other hand, GREAT JOB for AC... Although the uniform looks very "United" like, it is fresh and classy, definetly an improvement in AC!!!

I recently flew TAM and was highly impressed by everything, especially how net and elegant their F/A were... Perfectly dressed, groomed and maked up, these Brazilian chicks were really gentle and professional, very similar to the experience I had with LAn two years ago!!!

Will they wear those gloves- i think it completes the look!!!! Might give delta a try to see some FA wearing those snazzy new uniforms!!!!!

Time for AA to improve those uniforms to something a bit sharper- they've got some- i repeat: SOME fit FA's!!!!!!!!

Cheers

WOW! What an excellent improvement for a domestic carrier! That's a real class act..

Out of curiosity, is there anywhere online that has a significant chronological history in photos of air crew uniforms ?

Is the black dress in the second row, second pic a Delta option or did that just mistakenly get jumbled into the uniform pics? If it is a uniform, I'd gladly fly Delta if the right f/a was wearing it! Yet, I think we should be more concerned with elderly women wearing the little black number over the little red one!

i never said that. i said that if it boosted employee morale (which, according to some people on here, it will do), then customer service could also improve.
