How Was UA Able To Add Flights At Lga?

Tue Jun 13, 2000 3:10 am

Isn't NY-LaGuardia a slot-controlled airport? If so, how was United able to add two new flights to its schedule?

Up until June, United had 30 departures from LGA (16 to ORD, 7 to IAD, 6 to DEN, 1 to MIA). Now they have 32 -- 2 new flights were added to DEN without a decrease in their other flights.

Just curious how this was done.

It could be done one of two ways. If all flights are mainline they could simply lease the 4 slots from other airlines. If any flights are on aircraft with seating of less than 71 pax. they can use slot exemptions in LGA now.
