Airport Commuter-Flight Leader Challenge!

Tue Jun 13, 2000 8:25 am

It's an average Wednesday in January in the US. Question for you guys: list for me the top 10 airports in the US with the most commuter flights on said Wednesday.

P.S. I do have a source, and I'll post the top 10 list later on. (I wonder if Letterman is looking on?!)

There are some very good answers so far. A couple of the 10 may surprise people. I'll post the top-10 list tomorrow evening (Tuesday) around 6:00PM CST. Keep those answers coming!

Ok, technically I am cheating here, but I looked this up on the Regional Airline Associate page http://www.raa.org/carriers/topairports.html and the data is a bit old 1998. Here goes...
1-DFW (American Eagle and ASA)
2-CVG (Comair)
3-LAX (American eagle, Horizon, Skywest (Delta Connection and UAExpress)
4-IAD (Atlantic Coast Airlines)
5-ORD (Eagle, Air Wisconsin, UFS, Great Lakes, et al)
6-PIT (USAirways Express)
7-SEA (Horizon and Skywest (UAExpress)
8-BOS (too many to mention)
9-ATL (ASA)
10-MIA (Eagle et al)

and if my data is wrong then TELL ME!!! But I don't see any surprises here. Do you???

Since DesertJets gave his answer and his source, I think the rest of the group quit on us. His answer is almost 100% correct (off by 1), and that's only because my Regional Airline Association stat sheet is from january 2000 instead of '88. But here's the tallies anyway:

CVG-337
DFW-327
IAD-323
BOS-292
LAX-286
ORD-281
PIT-257
SEA-246
ATL-241
CLE-216

So, replace MIA with CLE and we're there. Major props to DesertJets.
