B6 Loads On The MCO-SJU/BQN Routes?

Fri May 05, 2006 2:59 am

Any news on the load factors for the new routes? How about the JFK/BOS-AUS/RIC routes. I read somewhere in the forum that B6 was going to use E190's on the SJU-BQN routes! Is that true? Are they just waiting for new E190's to swap out the equipment?

MCO-BQN-MCO was the best at around 120 pax each way. MCO-SJU both flights were about half full. I could definitely see them putting the E190's on SJU/BQN- MCO during low season. The A320s should do well during the summer.

JFK/BOS - AUS seems to be doing well (load wise) and Neeleman has hinted at an "aircraft change" so maybe we will see permanent A320 for one or more of the flights.

Richmond loads vary, I'm sure like AUS, they will develop and become money makers.

BQN/SJU-MCO is going to be slow until we work our way into late May, which is when traffic is really going to pick up. Bookings for June are already very strong - you can hardly find those $99 fares, and some days are even asking for $239! In any case, I think that the A320s will do well over the summer, and perhaps as we move into the winter B6 will replace them with E190s.

JFK/BOS-AUS have both really picked up and have most likely become profitable for B6. One indicator is that the fare has slowly inched from the $79 sale fare to $99, then $119, and now $134. Flights tomorrow are mostly full, which is surprising for a day in early May. I bet we'll see A320s on these routes in the summer.

JFK/BOS-RIC is having a tough time picking up. However, it looks like B6 has been making some progress and has risen fares from the $49 sale fare to $69 out of BOS and $74 out of JFK, thereby implying stronger bookings out of JFK. I have confidence that this route will really pick up within the next month, however, as product awareness in RIC grows.

Is B6 trying to turn MCO into a focus city? They currently have MCO-JFK/LGA/EWR, MCO-SJU, MCO-BQN and will soon have MCO-BUR (June 30, 2006). Does JetBlue have plans for MCO? Or is it just me?

I think B6s plans for MCO are contingent upon them getting more space/gates at MCO.

I would assume that if more gates/space were to become available, JetBlue would take advantage of that. We have a huge Crew population that lives there, LiveTV and JetBlue University are on the airport's property, and MCO has been very successful for us.

How well do you think the MCO-BUR route will perform?

That and I would also be interested in how the bookings look on the new BUR-LAS flight.

BUR-MCO is booking up very well. The flight is also a non-red eye, so I'd expect it to be very successful for B6.

It's expected to do better than LGB-LAS. Nevertheless, it's only one flight a day, and it doesn't start until late June, so it's still too early to tell.
