The Memphis Group announces plan to build China facility

The Memphis Group is a 35-year-old company that refurbishes and sells aircraft parts, and deals in surplus parts for Airbus, Boeing, Douglas and other aircraft makes. The company also operates a dismantling center in Greenwood, Miss., where it has torn down more than 180 aircraft for salvage parts.

Given the virtual explosion of the number of civil aircraft in China, especially Western types, such a move makes a lot of sense. On its Web site, The Memphis Group mentions its "strategically located global warehouses" for the parts and components the company and its subsidiaries salvage and overhaul.
