New BA Club And First Debut?

Tue May 09, 2006 11:50 pm

Hello all ! I was just browsing BA's website and came across this;

http://www.britishairways.com/travel...b?source=rh_PromoBanner_TravelFair

Mentions that the show at London's Olympia will highlight BA's new Club World and First innovations. Is this the full debut of the new seats or just some features of the improved cabins ?

Show looks interesting though !

The above thread has information, however, the two quotes below have the most interesting information.

Quoting Monkeyboi (Reply 33):
The latest:

Regarding new Club product.

Further details of the new Club Seat/cabin features will be 'phased in' until the first 747 rolls out with the new cabin first week in July. (currently July 6th).

The entire cabin is being re-done including lighting, carpets, loos, galleys etc.

Regarding AVOD:

Rockwell Collins.
Simple touch screen operation with digital sound.
BA have said they have avoided the 200+ film offerings of some carriers AVOD as they are too prone to crashing and other problems.
The BA system will concentrate on robustness and reliability offering 50 films on demand. 20 new releases and 30 classic films.
Foreign language film selection.
20 games thru out the a/c.

First aircraft will be in service on a 767 aircraft on 11 June.
The first 747 will be fitted July 6th.
The remainder of the 767's will then be fitted.
More 747's will be fitted during month of sept.
The remainder of the longhaul fleet will be fitted thru 06/07.

So that is the latest there... and below is another little bit...

Quoting JACK02116 (Reply 44):
On a recent LHR/SFO flight, the CSD told me the 2-4-2 config on 747 and 777 would be replaced by 2-3-2 due to a wider seat. 747 upper deck to remain at 2-2.

All of that said, no-one could confirm whether First would be upgraded at the same time. This would make sense since they're supposed to be introducing a new First product, so why not do it at the same time.

Perhaps some people have more up to date information now...
I do enjoy a spot of flying, especially when it's not in economy!
